New shop space - a WIP

When I first got it, it was too bassy. So, I shorted the 18k stopper resistor on the bass control to turn it down further. But, it's really broken in now so I think I can remove that mod. Haven't done anything else to it yet.

Yeah, I like it a lot. I've got some Spragues to replace the Chicago Elec. caps in there. Plus a couple orange drops. Just haven't gotten around to it.

New shop space - a WIP

Today was final hookup day. With the last bit of $$ I had on my Amazon GC (plus some of my money) I upgraded the main PC monitor to a 27" curved one, with 240Hz refresh rate. Very pleased with it so far. I will probably replace the right one with the same when funds allow next year. Got the...

New shop space - a WIP

Most everything has been put away and the worktable is finally clear. This is temporary until I build the actual big arsed table next month. Guitars and basses in their spot. I found this cool table on Market place. Butcher block with metal legs priced at basically cost for what it would...

    Madbean Harbinger 1.5 9v or 18v?

You'll want to commit to building one version or the other. It's not designed to switch between two power options on the fly. You would want to remove D3 to change it from a 9v to 18v operation. Plus, you would need two DC jacks since they connect at different parts of the circuit. It's just...

Here are some things I bought with the Amazon gift card I received. Two new Akro-Mills storage bins for PCBs. Of course, my entire PCB line up barely equals @Robert's overdrive selection! More Akro storage bins. They are expensive, but worth it, I guess. Lots of organization to do. And, a...

    Madbean Harbinger 1.5 9v or 18v?

The overall tone is exactly the same. Having built both versions, the only difference is that the 9v charge pump version seemed to have a more narrow range in tweaking the trimmers for the LFO. IOW, it took me a couple extra minutes to dial it in. You can email me or PM me yours and I'll get...

    Madbean Harbinger 1.5 9v or 18v?

9v with charge pump or 18v without produces comparable results. It's really what is the more conventional usage for you. If your power supply has a spare 18v tap then go with that.

    Kliche - diode removal?

Klon with no diodes does sound pretty good, IMO. But, once you starting cranking the gain and treble controls you may encounter some oscillation or motorboating. As long as you stay below that threshold no problem.

Wood shop in the garage is next after this. I've got most of tools already except a thickness planer. Next year I will be building a couple of Teles and maybe a couple cabs and amps.

New shop space - a WIP

Almost everything has been moved into the space. Next up is to figure out where everything is going to go. After that, I will be using those amazing Lowe's gift cards to start scratch building the work benches and new computer desk and also painting all the walls. I figure by the end of the year...

New flooring is in. This took me a few days due to back pain problems, but I got it done. Far from perfect but serviceable. Once I put in base board and paint it will look good. New metal storage cabinet (putting the doors on tomorrow). Total PITA to assemble. I swear, any time I have to put...
