    Duocast

Man, I've always wanted to try screenprinting. Seems like a real money pit to get started, though. I even have a DIY UV fluorescent bank that I made years ago for alternative photographic processes.

    Another J201 Thread

I am thinking about getting a bunch of those adapter boards and doing some SMD soldering again. Last time I tried it, it was a pain in the ass but that was maybe 10 years ago?

    Expectation: High/Low…

I'm not going to rag on the Life Pedal because enough people have given me money (most of which ends up going back to pedalpcb) to build them a Parentheses and they've all been happy. As for me, I am getting to be a bigger fan of doom/stoner music these days (still a newbie) but the...

I'm curious what the update is/was, because I have a previous version on my HD

I need a new workbench. Recommendations?

It's kind of TBD. I had a few bookshelves that were in there but are probably staying in the other room. I'll guess 3 to 4 feet?

String gauge what are you using?

Tele has 9-42 Ernie Ball Super Slinky. Les Paul Special and Ibanez Semi-hollow have 10-46 Regular Slinky. I think I'm going to put 12-56 custom gauges on the Les Paul so I can play C standard. Even D standard is waaaay too out of tune with the 10s.

I need a new workbench. Recommendations?

So, I have been using an Ikea IVAR monstrous combination desk and bookshelf. I would really like a dedicated workbench so I can have my desk separate and work on my laptop stuff there, including (hopefully) music production. You know what I'm looking for: a nice open area to solder, storage...

    Expectation: High/Low…

Underwhelmed by the Paragon /King of Tone. Blown away by the Parthenon and the Oroku Drive.

    Paragon Mod

Just a heads up... I tried this mod, and for some reason, when I switch from 18V to 9V, capacitor C10 starts to smoke. (double checked the polarity and the power rating.)

    Easiest guitar mod ever!!

I'm no electrical engineer, but I thiiiink this might get you the killswitch that reverses function when you toggle the DPDT switch. Somebody check my homework.

    Easiest guitar mod ever!!

Yeah, that's method #2, where the switch's default position is open and you momentarily close it.

    Easiest guitar mod ever!!

Well, both methods I talked about above describe a push-to-kill setup. If you reverse the wiring descriptions, then you can make a reverse killswitch. Probably wouldn't be that difficult to make it accompany a toggle switch to reverse the functionality. Personally my brain finds it easy enough...

    Easiest guitar mod ever!!

I tried it with a few different push-button switches until I finally found some that were reliable and robust. I currently have one that lives between the Volume and Tone knobs on my Tele switch plate. It's important to know that there are two ways to pull this mod off: 1) A momentary spst...

    New to the game!

Like @burger-patty-and-bacon, I have an X-tronic, the X-Tronic 3060 Pro. You get a lot of extras if you get the more expensive setup. It's especially nice to have all the different solder tips. I am not sure why Hakko gets the majority of recommendations around here, but I'm sure that's another...

    Show us your...

I can't believe I haven't posted here. Maybe it's just nerves after seeing all the premium gear listed. Anyway, Here is my contribution. The Ibanez Artcore AS73 is the latest. I've wanted a semi-hollow for a very long time, and I like how it fits my stature (6'3", 280 lb). I was blown away at...

SOLVED Twin Face - Si/NPN side, odd Q2 voltage?

Holy crap, I finally figured it out. Silicon NPN: switch is pointing up. Germanium PNP: switch is pointing down. :ROFLMAO: Not sure why the Ge side was giving me a good voltage in the wrong position. Maybe I accidentally put it in the correct position at first.

SOLVED Twin Face - Si/NPN side, odd Q2 voltage?

I can try that. I did measure them both with my Chinese measure-o-matic and they looked fine. The hFE were very similar too.

    Anyone up for troubleshooting?

Any chance the hot wire from the output jack is touching the back of that one potentiometer? On that note, are you not using dust caps at all? Also the bottom lug of the spdt switch seems like it's not soldered, but that could be the angle.
