SOLVED Relay Bypass (latching) + Informant: Effect always-on, LED switches on/off

Honest question: am I seeing things, or is there no wire connected to the IN of the relay board? I can’t tell and maybe the coffee hasn’t kicked in. Maybe that’s it?

Professor Tweed preamp cannot bias one of the JFETs

Hmmm. If you move the Q2 fet, does the biasing problem move with it? I.e if you swap Q2 and Q3, does Q3 not bias? If the swap lets Q3 bias correctly, then there’s a snag somewhere with the trimpot area. Again, just rolling some ideas. Maybe it will help.

Professor Tweed preamp cannot bias one of the JFETs

My guess is that you might have missed a cut on the strip board or missed a connection to q2. If you have a meter that can do continuity testing (beep), check to see if there is a connection from the leg of the trimpot that isn’t connected to V+ (+9V) to the drain of Q2. No connection would mean...

VFE TrueSoft V3.2 Bypass Board guide

Downloaded the master VFE file. Guess I going to need the charge pump. I think the document from above will help with this board. Now the Mobius Strip with the weirder parts? YEEHAW!

VFE TrueSoft V3.2 Bypass Board guide

I'll try the big download and see what I find. I think the guide you posted will help, but my board looks really different than others. I'll get a picture as soon as I can. Mobius Strip matches the build BOM/Board view so far. Thanks everyone for looking. I was wondering if I truly was a crazy...

VFE TrueSoft V3.2 Bypass Board guide

So, I've scoured the internet and have found the documents from the VFE group buy, but can't seem to find a build guide or set of guidance for the board I have. Mine is a through-hole version of 3.2, and the parts match the BOM. But, I'm not 100% sure: 1) what is necessary to populate (I don't...

    High Voltage Hijinks

So fun to read your updates. I have a lot of weird preamp boards (from Merlin’s old PCBs he sold) that are ready to go, but time and other stuff get in the way Re: Trainwreck - go for it. I’m debating for my next preamp rack if I go full Fender variants or 3 Trainwreck channels (Express...

    FV-1 Developer & Spin / Arachnid Questions

Well that just stinks on ice. Was it easy to install? Yep, as long as you have Java, you’ll usually be okay (what Robert says below). And the key word Robert says is “usually”

    FV-1 Developer & Spin / Arachnid Questions

Have I used it? Yes. I had some snags getting reliable testing audio set up, but that’s on me Is it hard to install? I think it’s easier now. I had to do a lot of work years back. Did I maximize its use and make great things? Nope, but was it fun? Yep. Can it be frustrating? Yup. But there’s...

    What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

Man, seeing that he’s winding pickups where I graduated high school is so wild. (No, didn’t know him - doesn’t look familiar to me. It’s been 25 years since I was there and it’s grown and changed in that time)

    What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

Why yes, I have a one piece mahogany DC body ready to be finished eventually in TV yellow. (Though kind of bunged the top a bit an had to slide a 1/8” piece across the top face toward the bottom of the body, ruining my immersion… but it’ll look rad…….eventually)

    It happened......

*looks at pedal stash* Yeah, that seems about right (considering my wife bought it for me and I sent it to Wampler in the early days of his work to mod it).

    identifying component manufacturer logos

Looks like, if I googled correctly, an AVX box film capacitor. Those were my favorites when I started building. I’ll double check against old builds that have them, just to be sure.
