    Women of PedalPCB

I just turned 43. And around my small town, people call me “young man” and “still a kid”. I have grey hair starting to creep in. And ear hair! I’ve always believed age is a mind set though.

What does everyone do for a living?

Well, before the pandemic I was dividing my time between gigging, bartending, and home reno. In that order. Most of my income was cash. Then I went to work in maintenance at a large Marina, because it was deemed “essential”, having a trailer park on site. But that job was less then challenging...

    What's in the mailbox? 📬 📦

I ordered some boards (mostly fuzzes) from Pedalpcb for my birthday. Feb 17th. I’ve patiently been tracking their movements through the southern states, and up to Canada. I’ve been in Nicaragua for the last month, looking forward to starting a few projects when I return. Well I flew back last...

What's your favorite tremolo pedal circuit?

The moonshot tremolo is my favourite. It doesn’t colour my tone. Which is what I found to be an issue with most, including the trembling loon. It has a volume control, which is an important feature. And it can be hummingbird fast. It’s been on my board for almost two years. It’s been a set and...

Tell me about your guitar playing or practice habits

I thought of two other practice habits I have. When learning a song, I will write the lyrics down. I won’t print them off the computer. Writing them down on paper helps me memorize the song. And I will often record my practice on my phone. So I can have a listen later on. And see what was good...

DEMO Did Fluffy fall into the fish tank?

Good choice of fish footage. The sounds are swimmy and soupy. Like an easy afternoon with too many shots of Cachaca.

Tell me about your guitar playing or practice habits

I fully understand dancing to the music. I use a drum machine, the Korg Volca Beats, sometimes to practice. I hate the sound of a metronome; a basic drum machine beat is more appealing. And I always stand up to practice. So dancing and swaying and foot tapping are all happening. I try to play...

    Pets of PedalPCB

Here is an old girl. Her name is Yuca. She’s not my dog. I first met her in Nicaragua ten years ago. She was a puppy of about four months when she bounced out of the back of a ATV. She broke her back leg, and the vet didn’t set the leg perfectly. But she persevered. And when in her prime a few...

Now Playing... What are you Listening to Right Now?

When I rode my motorcycle from Toronto to Vancouver over the course of ten days, I listened to the One Day as a Lion EP every morning. And if you have a Rhodes, run it into some fuzz! That Khruangbin song made me think International.

JB weld for hole size mistakes

I used the marine grade JB weld because I worked at a Marina, and it was readily available. Hopefully. I will never need to use such a product again. Haha.

JB weld for hole size mistakes

A while back I used some JB weld (marine grade) to fix a few f$&@ ups I made on two enclosures. I over drilled the holes for the jacks. Oops. And an off center footswitch hole. Damn. I first taped one side of the holes. Then with a toothpick, I mixed the white goop with the black goop on a...

    90’s headphone amp

My dad bought this from Radio Shack back in the early 90’s. I recently found it amongst some odd ball cables, and gave it a clean. When I was learning how to play guitar, I would use it, as a favour to anyone else in the house. It still functions. And the three settings are fun. Clean, Edge...

DEMO Did Fluffy fall into the fish tank?

All that sounds like chaos. Many of us would love to hear it. Please give us a quick demo. At your leisure.

    question about pitchfork +

My uneducated guess is that it has to do with the display screen, and not the effects. But please, by all means, flick that switch. Let the world know!

How we use the pedals we build

Twin Reverb occasional user here. Master vol at 10, volume maybe 2. It’s loud and clean. I haven’t gigged with it in years. Too heavy and overkill for the Patios and small bars I play. Back when I ran an open mic, it was fun hearing different guitars and players plug into it. My set up now is...

I always thought tone was in the pedal!

A “Tone” that I’ve enjoyed lately is boosting and clipping the signal, and then turning the volume down to a reasonable level. I use an always on MOSFET boost, into a slightly overdriven Fuzz, into a Distortion 250. The sound is wide and mid heavy. Then at the end, before reverb, I use a SHO...

    Dual overdrives in a 125b

Here is a 3 in 1 build. A fuzz foundry, Squidward, boost. https://forum.pedalpcb.com/threads/125b-3-in-1.19222/ And for an overdrive. I’ve been enjoying a GuitarPCB Fzzz Bxxx into a PPCB Distortion 250. Not dual overdrives. But ya know.

DEMO [Vero] Univox Superfuzz - altoids

Excellent work. I can’t recommend another octave fuzz. I only know the superfuzz and the fuzzyfoxx. But a cool mod to the super fuzz is to replace the mid switch with a pot. So instead of scooped or not, you can find a few spots in between. Anyway. Great tiny build.
