Suggestions on what to build next.

If I could go back 5 years, I would dive into breadboarding. I have many pedals that I’ve built, that have had maybe 20mins of play time, just to say “okay, that’s not for me” and on the shelf they go.

Also. Percolation Station. It’s has a special sound and feel. I’ll stop now.

Suggestions on what to build next.

When you decide to build a Fuzz Face, I suggest the Foundry Deluxe. It helped me to realize how I want a fuzz face to sound. Basically I found my favourite settings on the Foundry Deluxe, and then I built a standard Foundry with a preferred input Cap, and either Ge or Si, to achieve a similar...

    Third Man DIY Fuzzrite Kit

Side mounted jacks? I’d rather not. Cute though.

    Jackson Audio is relaunching Fulltone

Oh My Goodness. Gomez. I had only heard the song “78 stone wobble” maybe twice on MuchMusic, and it got stuck in my head. I rode my bike to the local CD shop and asked for the album “Bring it On” they ordered it in. Probably cost $25!!! (Huge for a cd back then) A week or two later, I had it on...

    GPCB Sabotage

Thanks for the detailed write up. I’ve built a few GPCBs, and I always change the CLR resistor. Those led’s are too bright. So much so, that when it’s on, I can’t see where the knobs are set. Just sayin.

    Help me finish a pedalboard

Phaser after delay is how I like to modulate. I love the Circulator. But a moonshot tremolo could also work for some crazy waves. As for 2: Boost. I like the Amentum. Because it’s clean. Also… the green ringer is petite. Consider stuffing it into a 1590b with the fuzz face. They are both...

    What's your favorite PPCB Boost?

To answer the question: I don’t know yet. So far… Mercurial, which is an excellent sculpting tool. Can be very clean. Great with other drives and fuzzes. Crackle Jack, small and powerful. Can fit in enclosures easily with other pcbs. Fun to stack. Even with another boost. Or another crackle...

    Post your first build

I started with BYOC as well. I believe it was the Leeds Fuzz. It would’ve been 2014?? And it was the first of a bunch of byoc builds, in less then a year. I was hesitant to take the leap from Kits, to PCB and part sourcing. Mostly because I’m lazy, and I thought it would increase my chances of...

    Best band of the 90’s…

REM is both an 80’s and a 90’s band. I have only listened to the 90’s albums. I re-purchased Monster on CD a few months ago for $3. Worth it just to sing along to Strange Currencies. U2 have a similar division in their catalog. To me at least. And high five to Big Wreck and the song Albatross...

Oh and before I forget. Change of Heart from Toronto Ontario Solid band from that time.

    Best band of the 90’s…

Thank you Feral Feline for adding in the Canadian 90’s bands. Specifically Big Sugar, the Hip, and Our Lady Peace. Day for Night, by the Tragically Hip was the most important CD I owned, at the time. And STP are still a favourite of mine. The self titled 2010 album, and shangri-la-de-da get...

    3-in-1 combo 1590bb

I just realized that I forgot to mention that, in the photo of the gut shot, the order of the boards is a bit different. The switches of the Trumpeter are mounted to the pcb, the pots are wired. So the Trumpeter is in the middle. I hope that helps.

    3-in-1 combo 1590bb

The order is: Trumpeter, into the Squidward, into the Mosfet boost. I usually build them, unboxed, and test them out to see how they interact together. In this case, the fuzz, like most fuzzes sounded best being first. The Squidward is a wonderful circuit, that adds a touch of nasty to the...

    Maleficent Mids switch position

A very subtle difference can be heard between the two positions. If I recall, I found that at much higher volumes, it was more noticeable. Or maybe with a fuzz in front, and at higher volumes..?.? Good luck.

    CONTEST EOY Gift code Giveaway

Change “upcoming” to “inevitable” and “excited” to “blasé” and I’d say “deciding how to label two dozen pedals.”

    3-in-1 combo 1590bb

The MXR knob is my go to knob of choice. I find they are the easiest to see, AND the easiest to turn with my toes. I play and gig barefoot, or at least in socks.

    3-in-1 combo 1590bb

A Trumpeter, Squidward, MOSFET Boost (GuitarPCB). ‘‘Twas a smooth build. Someday I’ll start labeling them. Just a little combo I put together. I rearranged my board and needed these three circuits, in a 1590bb. Then after about a month, and another rearrangement of my board. I went back to my...

    Oh the salt....

I can’t say I was aware of the “controversy”, but I watched the first 20 mins. Damn funny stuff. “It sounds like if Don Henley took less chances” that line made me pause the video. Hahaha And the next time 3 doors down pops on the radio, I will definitely give a chuckle. Thank you Punchy...

    Awfull Waffle Zener Diode

I’ve been pondering the same situation. CAN a 9.1v be used as a substitute? As in, the circuit needs a minimum of 8.2v. So any thing higher is okay. Or is it a big NO, only 8.2v can be used to avoid catastrophe.
