How is this board meant to be used?

Perfboard has its own skill set. You should probably build something more simple before doing a boneyard circuit. You can always desolder it.

    BD-2 boneyard mod not working

This belongs in the troubleshooting forum, not the Boneyard. You will get more traction doing that.

Squire vs Kit - platform guitar

You might want to go the partscaster route. I know @MichaelW is a big fan of GuitarFetish or at least had decent results. A neck and a body are about $100 each. Hardware can be easily got on sweetwater or even Amazon.

Why does nobody use these outtie DC jacks?

Neatness mostly. Outies stick out too far. They work fine, though

Breadboards and Stripboards compared to PCBs

I think there's a lot to unravel here. Each have their pros and cons, and it really boils down to what you want and what you intend to do with it. From what I hear, it's easier to sell a PCB circuit than a stripboard one. Never heard of anyone buying a breadboarded circuit, lol. Breadboard No...

Noise issues when powering two circuits on breadboard

I second what Cybercow has said. You've also got a unique issue with the one knob fuzz (and other fuzz face variants) that is probably the main culprit. In these circuits, the audio path is thrown into the DC path and that's probably what you are hearing when both circuits engaged. See below...

    Rangefinder schematic question

Yes, into the ground rail (9V plugged in). You can also play around with different values for C3 and C4 to find what you like. The Test Kitched forum has some great breadboarding tutorials.

    Rangefinder schematic question

The bottom section is the power section. It uses a TC1044SCPA and few other parts to be able to provide -9V along with polarity protection (1N5817) from your wall wart or other power supply and powering on a LED.. If you're going to breadboard this first there is no need to use it. Simply flip...
