I had a good laugh today

For all we clown on the AI used on this pedal, it's still better AI content than what your current president is putting out. To be honest I think Aryan King would make a better president, not gonna lie. It's hard to get worse. And maybe the base would vote for him just based on the name?

    What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

FWIW if you're in the US I think you can get the real Engineer branded one for a decent price? I got mine from Aliexpress and it has felt pretty good, much better than the cheapo type. It probably comes with some silicone tubing too, but if it doesn't, just any normal silicone tubing should work...

    What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

What is your current solder sucker? I think it's in the picture, but I don't quite recognize it. I only know this style https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006995444186.html which is bad, and this style https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006861778398.html, which is much better. Would a...

Scientific measurements of clipping diode differences

I'll have you know it was mentioned in the opening post. Although I don't really expect everyone (or even anyone) to read the whole thing.

Scientific measurements of clipping diode differences

This is more or less what I had in mind, except with "circuit" I figured why not just go input -> diodes -> output. Yes I lose a lot of volume, but I don't think that should be an issue unless I run really close to the noise floor of my interface or something like that. As for gain matching...

Scientific measurements of clipping diode differences

Fair point, I guess by measuring I was thinking along the lines of calibrating the signal based on peak volume in a DAW, and checking whether the two signals have a different spectral balance, or if the different knee characteristics cause a compression-like effect outside of the actual hard...

Scientific measurements of clipping diode differences

And to clarify on "scientific measurements", I'd accept anything better than "just switch them out, change the gain by ear and listen to differences" since that is very easy to get wrong in either direction - any kinds of measurements might work (but what to measure?), maybe null tests? Or even...

Scientific measurements of clipping diode differences

I've been wondering about a way to test and/or measure what different diodes sound like, and more accurately if they indeed sound different when used for clipping. To elaborate, I know the biggest difference between different diodes we use for clipping is the forward voltage. To simplify...

I had a good laugh today

I wonder how you would approximate an out-of-phase sound in a circuit like this. Of course it won't be totally the same as having the pickups wired like that normally, since the idea is that you get two different pickup signals where one has the phase flipped and combine them, right? Is it...

My order was returned to Pedal PCB Headquarters...what happened? :(

It's probably just an USPS thing, I've had that happen before too (although it's a long time ago now). IIRC even Robert doesn't know why, they just... sometimes do that? I'm sure he will reply to you at some point, so just wait.

    Pedal parts Inventory Software

I can try it out, and I'm sure there are others too (not sure if @szukalski has any use for it, but for sure has the expertise needed), but there are a lot of, ahem, gentlemen of a more mature persuasion on the site who I think it might be too modern for. I assume there's some complex stuff...

I had a good laugh today

I do wonder if that is what is the point of the whole scam. Write up all kinds of lies about the product, make a small note saying "might not be accurate" and then sell a YATS for $500? Is that legal in the US? Or are they betting nobody will bother suing them for false advertising?

How is this board meant to be used?

I think you can also stick pot legs directly in the board I think? Or at least more easily than with stripboard. Of course it's personal preference whether that's better than off-board wiring, but for me, off-board wiring is the worst part of the build process, so while I haven't used perf board...

How is this board meant to be used?

Ehh, a screwdriver is worse at hammering than a hammer. Doesn't mean it's a shit tool. Although it's a shit hammer, admittedly.
