Stuff you wanted to know but were afraid to ask

Yep- probably not the right thread for this- I’ll just go into the troubleshooting subforum the next time it happens.

Stuff you wanted to know but were afraid to ask

Ok, here’s one I’ve been kind of afraid to ask… When I’m breadboarding, and I try to make a transistor-based circuit, it fails just about every time. By that I mean the audio signal passes through with little change, or it sounds weak. I do your typical troubleshooting, like check the pinouts...

Dude, it’s all good, you don’t have to stay closeted on the guitar pedal forum.

Boss DM-2 what resistor sizes needed?

The MBP Aquababy uses 1/8w, but it also fits in a 1590B, which is a bit smaller than a boss pedal. https://madbeanpedals.com/projects/_folders/Delay/pdf/Aquababy24.pdf

DEMO Star Wars Theme 6-Loop / Midi Switcher + Midi expander

This is awesome. And exciting to see someone pull off a diy programmable loop switcher. So clean, inside and out. I like your design choices for functionality. And the UI is fun with all those animated transitions. I have been working on something very similar, off and on. 4 audio loops, MIDI...

Fender, the orange guy of guitarbrands?

Yesh, that was a different time. I have a ‘98 American P-bass that’s just an all-around nice instrument.

Fender, the orange guy of guitarbrands?

There’s just too many good alternatives. I picked up my first tele over the weekend. It’s a Jet 300 series. The fretwork was impeccable. I wasn’t planning on buying it. I was just that impressed by it, and it was like $230. I also have a custom build that’s close to done, that would have...

    What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

My last JMK order was Nov 2024. But I just did a quick test with his shop and shipping to my part of the US looked reasonable.

    What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

It doesn’t have to be much of anything either. Some may laugh at how basic this is, but it still makes it easier to set up testing and probing.

Multiple PCBs in 1 box w/ wired pots - secure PCB with velcro?

I have used dual-lock for this and it worked well. It was easy to pop the boards back out, and easy to snap in. Dual lock is more expensive than hook and loop, but superior in every way.

I don’t want to spoil the mystery, but if you see something in the box that’s missing a pre-programmed eeprom, check with me and I can send it your way. I just came across it while digging through parts.

    What’s really good?

I was having more of a “What’s Your Current Headache?” week, but I received an email that lifted my mood. I built one of my favorite bands a delay pedal, and today he sent me a photo of it on his board.

Stuff you wanted to know but were afraid to ask

I like to do this too. I’ll add most or all the resistors, do a pass on one side, straighten them all out, and then do the other side. I used to do them one at a time, but after I had more practice and a better iron it’s just so much faster to solder a whole bunch of components in one go.
