    Configure your own messa

Happy 70th dude! There was a time not too long ago I didn't think I'd make it to 60 heh. (2 cancers ago). Grateful to have a good shot of getting there now. I'm going to tell my wife I need $13k for my 70th and she better start saving now..... :ROFLMAO:

    IC Sockets

I buy the cheap leaf sockets from Amazon. I guess I don't know how to build pedals..... :p

    Minnow/FSH-1 transistors?

solder them. As long as your J201's are in spec. These are all run of the mill JFETs, PNP and NPNs.

    What's on the workbench?

Oleg is the man. That's a great chart! Saving that to my desktop. :) Last time I checked he didn't have as much to offer in NPN's, that's what I need a re-stock on. Preferably leaky ones haha.

    What's on the workbench?

Where did you get that assortment? Looks pretty nice and coverage across gain and leakage.

    What's in the mailbox? 📬 📦

Keftone is legit. They do a lot of OEM work for bigger named companies. I have quite a few sets of their Strat pickups and a couple set of Tele.

Sheepy Love Old Fashioned (Animal pedals Major Overdrive)

I think out of all the Skreddy pedals I've built this one seems to be the most forgiving in terms of the transistors. I initially built mine with 2N3904's which were a lot higher gain. It sounded great! But probably not like how Ahlfs builds it. When I switched to low gain NPN's (MPS3646) I...

Greer Mizuki Blue (PPCB Blue Yonder Overdrive)

Well they are different pedals. You definitely "need" to build both :p . They are reminiscent of each other but the Chop Shop can get a lot more gated and sputtery depending on the bias control. You can think of the Mizuki as a subset of what the Chop Shop can do. Having said that, I personally...

    What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

Well one could make the argument that a "weak lopsided phaser" is exactly what a vibe is hahahaha. Honestly though, I have yet to be able to integrate any of the vibes I've built (4 and counting) into actually make MUSIC. I mean, after about 5 minutes of playing the only Robin Trower lick I...

Nah, slow boat is the best option. Only a couple days more than DHL and it's an all in landed cost.

This Week on the Breadboard: The Tush OD

Hmmm, I might have a metal can 308 somewhere.... Yah for me, it's just small hands. He slides from the F to G with his thumb while doing the double stops in the key of G. I can do one or the other but not both. My beard must not be long enough......

This Week on the Breadboard: The Tush OD

Just put this together yesterday. Ok, so I was rather skeptical about this op amp clipping business. (About as skeptical as I was about CMOS clipping on the Frizzler.... :p ) All I can say is WOW, I've never heard op amp clipping sound like this. I'm not sure which "era" of Billy Gibbons this...

Pickup advice- humbucker in a single coil slot

    1. Nah, it's your guitar. Make it work for you. 2. There's lot of options. But depending on how hot you want the pickup to be, the Seymour Duncan JB Mini is a dual coil humbucking pickup that fits into a single coil slot. You could also try a hotter single coil pickup that will give you more...

Triad Overdrive (JHS 3 series OD / HAO Rumble MOD)

And here I thought the Triad was a straight up tube screamer. I love obscure Japanese pedals. I may have to check it out.

Got some serious vintage goodness from @bluedmc777 in the mailbox today! Woot! Don has sent me a few vintage preamp tubes over the last couple years, and every one of them has been killer sounding! Can't wait to give these babies a run once I figure out what they're going to go into. Thanks Don!
