    Electrovibe lamp to LED mod?

There were some Easyvibe users a while back that noted the difference in sound between different LED colors, with green sounding especially good. Good idea (building it stock first). Report back with your opinions on the LED vs lamp. I'm building my ElectroVibe with a lamp as well.

    Reliable source for TA7136APs?

Long story short: I had the urge a year or so ago to build a MIJ DS-1 from scratch. I traced the layout from the 1978 version, omitting the switching section; it's considerably smaller than the original. I sourced some TA7136APs from Retroamplis, but either those are bad or there is an issue...

    Lovetone Brown Source: worth building?

This one has intrigued me for years. It was a 'boutique' high-dollar distortion in the mid-late 90's, back when there weren't nearly as many private builders as there are now. Just curious if it's worth building, what with other Marshall-esque drives out there (the Friedman pedals, Marvel Drive...

Definitive bass-cut mod for the Boss OD-3?

Thanks @Chuck D. Bones With work & the holidays in full swing until the EOY, I'll likely start back building in January. I bought a few from Aion and PPCB during the Black Friday sales, but these are all 'new builds' and will go to the back of the line until other stuff is done.

Does ANYONE make a round enclosure?

Thx guys - I'm probably going to shelve this idea for a while. If I get really antsy, I'll just do a 125B.

Does ANYONE make a round enclosure?

Crazy as it sounds, I'd love to build an Expandora clone but only in a ROUND enclosure. That's such a signature look, that I'd like to recreate it, if possible. I know Hammond doesn't make one - just putting some feelers out there to see if anyone else might have a lead.

Definitive bass-cut mod for the Boss OD-3?

I have an Aion Heliodor incoming, and I've made note of some of @Chuck D. Bones mods from other posts. I saw this one: "If you want to reduce the muddiness caused by too much bass going into the distortion stages, then try reducing C33 instead. Do it in small steps because C33 has a lot of...

    Thoughts on non-DIY reverb

I voted Strymon BigSky (I'm on my 2nd one now), but would whole-heartedly recommend the Source Audio Ventris and/or Strymon BlueSky V2. The Ventris has probably the best spring reverb algo on the market (True Spring).

    Most authentic Boss SD-1?

Another one (again, not yet verified) is the 'Hot' mode from the Ibanez TS7, switchable by a toggle. It consists of: Adding a cap in parallel (don't recall where in the circuit) to reduce the value of said cap (assuming it's a bass cut) Replacing a cap & resistor in series with another cap &...

    Most authentic Boss SD-1?

I've got an etchable PCB layout for an SD-1 that I created using the 1981 MIJ version's service notes. I removed the switching section, and made it very compact: it's less than 2"W, and a little over 2"L. It's not validated yet, though. :)

    Boss DC-2 build: run LM78L06 at 15V?

I'm revisiting a Boss DC-2 build, and have a few questions for any others that may have built them. Do run yours at 9V? Any overload/distorting when using a humbucker guitar? If you are running at a higher voltage (12v or 15V), are you still using the LM78L06 voltage regulator (TO-92 case), or...

Marble Drive/Marvel Drive: add 3-band EQ?

Is there any way to insert a 3-band EQ into the Marvel/Marble Drive 2(3)? I'd like more (global) tonal control - my Marvel 2 clone sounds great, but the controls (Normal Vol, Treble Vol, Presence) are really sensitive to changing the overall EQ, and it's tricky to find a good balance.

    Zvex 59 Sound (modified)

Even with the stock bass setting and 470pF (mids) cap, it has a good amount of gain; it's just that once it gets there (for me), it's too woofy/fuzzy. With the mods I listed above, it's a great Swiss-Army-knife of classic rock-n-roll/rock sounds. Does it do a better Marshall sound than my...

    Zvex 59 Sound (modified)

That had me interested, but was never quite sure about it. It's supposed to emulate Page's sound of 'Hiwatts through Marshall cabs'. But then they also had the WIIO pedal, which was supposed to do the Hiwatt thing. I've got a Bearfoot Model H in the works first.

    Zvex 59 Sound (modified)

I'll get some pics up soon, but this is a criminally underrated pedal. I etched a PCB using the layout from https://effectslayouts.blogspot.com/2018/03/zvex-59-sound.html, which does not include the SHO boost. I did also make the following modifications: Replaced the 470K resistor under Q2 with...

If I stare at it long enough, I start to see the sailboat. Jokes aside, this will be a release-day purchase for me.
