You mentioned octave footsw wiring, did you check the switch itself? I've had some lemon switches do odd things. I can't see anything else. You could try audio probing from input to octave sw too see if it's going thru the octave circuit or getting bypassed

I did use 1M for the gain. Still tweaking the trim pots lowering the gain here and there, I think q1 to 4 are somewhere between 4.7V - 5.2V now. Turning up the gain slightly I get a mild OD below 9oclock, 9 its hard rock, 9 to 12 its getting crunchy, 12 and over distortion with more...
