Is it possible to create a brickwall limiter that doesn't disort on over the limit peaks?

Pickups just translate the vibrations of the strings to electrical energy. They can't even out dynamics. The problem you describe is down to the setup of the guitar. The best thing will be take it for a good setup so the neck can be adjusted and the frets levelled.

    Futzing with FETs

How did you choose the P-chan JFET? Been thinking of getting some in for tinkering. Had my eye on the J177 as it's used in some of those AMT designs.

    External SSD drives

I have to echo @vigilante398 here. Don't use an SSD for backup purposes. If you are only plugging it in once a week to do the backup, much better to go for reliability over form factor and speed.

    Friedman Mini

I would say all these heads have the same dimensions and footprint and they simply didn't have room for a couple more pots and knobs. Hence switches which take up less room on the faceplate.

Is it possible to create a brickwall limiter that doesn't disort on over the limit peaks?

The Clipping section of Chapter 24 (Gain Control Elements) of Doug Small's "Small Signal Audio Design" details some really good designs for this idea. It should be noted though that distortion is inevitable in a clipped signal, all a great design does is reduce distortion before the clipping...

    Budget Baritones and Tariffs

Doesn't Firefly have one of those Baritone options and they are from the US? It's so depressing here in New Zealand, we don't have these cheap quality Chineese brands and shipping from the the UK / Europe is the same price as the guitar.

    GAR 2520 or OA10 Schematics

Hello, does anyone have a lead on schematics like the GAR2520 or OA10? I want to incorporate some of these into some designs, but ideally I don't want to have to buy one of the kits as I'd rather be able to convert to SMD to use in some of my own layouts? I know there are schematics of some of...

Who has built a FET City Drive?

I think MOSFETs tend to be a little noiseier in general compared to say JFETs?

Fun with CMOS - part 3 - Emma ReezaFratZitz (with Boneyard mod)

How do CMOS gates differ from op-amps when it comes to configuring their gain and frequency response? I normally use https://nz.element14.com/op-amp-gain-calculator but don't know the theory when it comes to CMOS.

Pitfalls and Tips: Designing effects PCBs

I've edited the silkscreen of polarised components to be painfully obvious to make spotting JLC orientation weirdness as easy to spot as possible.

Boutique Pedal Manufacturers Are Feeling the Tariff Pinch

I think we're being a little over critical of the guy here. I think he was just feeling the grief of a failed venture and wanted to share his story. I do think it's valuable to tell because everyone will have their own circumstances. I do think it's a good reminder, and opportunity to burst the...

    Positive Ground Circuit Redesign??

The LT1054 seems to have become favoured more recently for this and has a high clock and doesn't seem to have the heterodyning issue.

    Parts Storage Solutions

I have a really small work space and this keeps everything really compact and incredibly quick and easy to find for me. The deckboxes can be bought really cheap from TEMU. Or if you like you can use trading card trays instead.

    Wampler KiCad course

Agree, course was super basic. Didn't cover anything that would actually help you make a GOOD PCB. No discussion of good layout technique, good grounding practices, routing for low noise and oscillation etc. Worthless.

    Fixes for the Median compressor

Nice, these are cool mods. I think a big part of the issue with the Median is it isn't based on an 1176 actually but an Orange Squeezer I think.

What's your thoughts on Brian Wampler's new Video Courses?

I bought the PCB design one and I regret it. It was really basic. I was hoping for info on how to make good layouts, run traces for optimal noise reduction, reducing oscillation etc, but it was a really basic how to use Ki-Cad course essentially. IMO there's nothing you can't learn here or over...

    Amptweaker Tight Control

Yeah I was going to suggest just doubling the filter, you need a dual gang pot though, and finding a dual gang C pot can be tricky (though I think Tayda has them).
