    Q-Tune DIY Tuner kit

Gotcha. In the long run (and now), we want the ability for the ESP32 to control the state of the relays. There are two relays in Q-Tune. One is for switching engaged/bypass and the other relay is used to switch with software between buffered bypass and true bypass. Maybe I'm misunderstanding...

    Q-Tune DIY Tuner kit

Thanks! We went with the Waveshare ESP32-S3 2.8” 240x320 with capacitive touch because it gave us a LOT better looking screen mounting option. We tried figuring out a professional-looking screen enclosure using the CYD ESP32 (Cheap Yellow Display) but couldn’t ever figure out a cover glass...

    Q-Tune DIY Tuner kit

We explored that direction (treating the incoming signal as a digital signal and interpreting the DC pulses in the microcontroller). In practice, we found that it actually performed much better when we still read it as an analog signal so we kept it. I spent a good number of days trying out...

    Q-Tune DIY Tuner kit

Join us Thursday, May 29, at 8 PM Eastern on a YouTube Live Stream where we'll do some intros about who we are, why we started the project, some design decisions, a quick demo, and some Q&A:

    Q-Tune DIY Tuner kit

Hi @xconverge, great to hear from you—and I appreciate you keeping an eye on the project! I did originally plan to make Q-Tune open source, but after some reflection, I’ve decided to keep the code closed for the time being. There are a few reasons for the shift. Most importantly, Q-Tune has...

    Q-Tune DIY Tuner kit

That jumper on the input jack is still the right thing. In the production PCB that connection will already be wired to GND. It was a spot where we had placed a 10pF cap to ground (C9) with the signal line that’s not really needed anymore. 🤦‍♂️

    Q-Tune DIY Tuner kit

Demo mistake… Remember that component I said wasn’t going to be in the production circuit board that I jumpered? I made a very effective mute circuit by that jumper connecting signal to ground. I clipped it and everything works as planned. Thanks for humoring me w/ the prototype build. It was a...

    Q-Tune DIY Tuner kit

Thanks for the feedback. This was definitely a last-minute type of stream and not really “official.” We’ll make a better one later on … our documentation is top notch though so a build video shouldn’t be needed. We’ll be posting the nice build doc within a couple weeks. And, of course a risk of...

    Q-Tune DIY Tuner kit

I realize that for some of you watching a build will be boring, but in case you've literally got nothing else to do today... (haha) I'm going to be live streaming a full prototype build of our latest circuit board this afternoon at 3 PM Mountain Time. It's taken me about 2 hours in the past...

    Pop with opamp buffer circuit

Update. I tried 10u + 10k and the pop no longer exists (yay!) and seems to still sound the same. Still curious about the 560R in the Klon. Is that just a mixing resistor used for when the pedal effect is engaged and you're basically blending the buffered and wet signals together?

    Pop with opamp buffer circuit

i'm working on a buffer inside of my pedal using a TL072 (or other opamp). I've got the input impedance dialed in, but have been experimenting with the output impedance. Coming out of the opamp, I've got an electrolytic cap C3 and a 100nF cap C4 and then a pull down resistor (RPDO). Initially...

Enclosure drilling with a square lip for a LCD acrylic cover lens?

Right, I’ve seen acrylic panels with transparent windows. The trick there is still how would you cleanly mount something like that in a standard guitar pedal enclosure so the see-through acrylic part is nearly flush with the top side of the enclosure?

Enclosure drilling with a square lip for a LCD acrylic cover lens?

Good point, darn. Monoprice’s Stage Right tuner does this so I wondered if it could be sourced from somewhere easily enough. Yes, Tayda does square holes. I have a prototype in front of me. We were thinking of putting the step edge on the plastic too but that’s a bit more work for every kit...

Enclosure drilling with a square lip for a LCD acrylic cover lens?

Does anyone know if there’s a company that does everything that Tayda does for pedal enclosures (drilling and painting) that would also be able to cut a lip in the top of an enclosure so that I could drop in an acrylic cover lens? I’m working on a new pedal (current plan is to provide it as a...

    Paragon Mini with mods

I just built this pedal with the same mods as the OP (thanks for posting them). Still getting used to the pedal and trying to figure out how to set up the DIP switches and treble/presence trimmer for optimal sound, but so far it seems pretty great!

RING of TONE Build / Paragon Mini

This is my first attempt designing and printing the artwork for a pedal. I used water slide paper and my Inkjet printer. I also sprayed some clear coats after putting it on the pedal top. Hopefully it’ll have decent longevity. One of my other passions is cycling so I couldn’t pass up calling...
