    PedalPCB 5-Loop True Bypass Switcher

I appreciate the tip! I haven't gotten around to peek inside to see what can be done in that regard. Not sure if it is a discrete device, like a transistor or FET, or an SMD op amp. If I skip the looper-switcher's input, the pedals behave better. Using the standard buffered input sounds...

10 linear power supplies on one board: shared ground? or isolated ground planes?

Correct. I typically connect the ground 'feed' to the pedal with the highest power requirement (typically a digital delay or reverb).

    PedalPCB 5-Loop True Bypass Switcher

What is the status of this offering? I have a Joyo PXL-Pro and have tried a bunch of others, like the Boss switcher and the loop input buffers mess with my FET based pedals when other pedals with buffers are engaged in the same memory program selection (Klon, delay with tails, etc.).

10 linear power supplies on one board: shared ground? or isolated ground planes?

If each AC transformer winding has its own isolated ground, then keep the rectifier-regulator-filter circuit isolated. Your ground of your pedal-to-pedal instrument cables will serve as the 'star grounding system.' I utilize a simpler method of star-ground in the supply, with the positive...

    PPCB Dumble Pedals

They are all pretty much based from the same dual op amp circuit. Timmy / Zendrive derivatives. These have been designated 'Dumble sounding' pedals, mainly because Robben Ford once made claims that his Zendrive got close enough for gigs which he could not take his Dumble Overdrive Special...

    Kittywampus Charge Pump Whine

Yep - not all the LT1054's are the same and not all the 7660's are the same, when it comes to hearing sub harmonics of the internal clock / switching oscillator. IDK if it is shielding, filtering or both. All will step up the voltage exactly the same, but only particular suffix types will be...

Needing replacement parts for 1985 Roland JC-120

I've restored one around 2017. Any parts in specific?

    Signal generator help

If you are looking to learn via a science project, keep following the prior advice. However, if you are just in need of a quick and reliable signal generator, there are a few good free phone apps. I use 'PA Tone' with 1/8" plug into my phone's headphone jack, terminating to an RCA / 1/4" plug...

Has anyone tried silicon carbide diodes as clippers?

FWIW: I typically measure the forward voltage of the clipping device using the diode setting of a DMM and make decisions on matching, symmetry, how high, etc.) on that. Again, I am not a 'curves' guy with pedals, as the range of signal voltage and amperage is low making the audible (feelable?)...

Has anyone tried silicon carbide diodes as clippers?

I have not tried the SiC Schottky diodes, which seem to have a slightly higher Vf than he 1N4148 Si diodes. When I want a subtle increase to Vf, I generally put a 1N5817 Schottky in series with the original clipping device. FWIW, I am not one of those who can hear or feel the difference...

    Deciding on first amp build

Hey @jcpst, the 5F2 with a 12" is a pretty decent start and a very useful amp. Will rock with or without pedals! Always keep in mind 'Danger - High Voltage.' Pedals don't bite, but tube amps can take away yoru birthday very easily. Double check your work, especially the electrolytic...

No wet signal from Ungula Cleft Mod

I wonder if they sell something similar for a Weller WLC100? That looks mighty useful.

    RAT vs RAT2

No problem - I assumed (wrongly) that the schematic on the first page was that. R9 on your schematic cannot be omitted and the resistor being talked about here is already omitted from that Muroidea design. The Mouridea looks somewhat like a clone of a Rat 1.

    RAT vs RAT2

Omit R15, not R9. R15 is a 10K resistor between signal in ground, in parallel with the Volumen pot which is 100K signal to ground. R9 (1K5) in the filter circuit can be eliminated by using a jumper wire, but that would just shift the frequencies to be a bit brighter. IMHO, it is already too...

Anticipated Pedal, Turned Out to Be Meh?

Since this area is designated for 'reviews,' I was wondering if anyone has a pedal or two (a build or a buy) which you really thought was going to be great, but turned out 'meh'? For me, I build a Wampler Tweed '57 clone which I like the graphics I came up with, but cannot gel with the pedal...

AMI 'Spirit of 76' (Median Compressor)

Thank you for the compliment! Actually, the finish started with scuffing the pedal diagonally to achieve a consistent shine with a 400 grit wet sand. Degreased with Naptha and washed with water. Then, three light coats of Krylon Fusion 'Gloss Red Plum', let cure for four days. Then...

AMI 'Spirit of 76' (Median Compressor)

This is a gut shot during functional test, before I swapped out the TL072 ICs for the Burr-Brown OPA1678 ICs.

AMI 'Spirit of 76' (Median Compressor)

Built to PedalPCB spec (unusual for me). Having used many UREI 1176 compressors and being underwhelmed with traditional guitar compressors (yes, even my 1982 Ross that I kept for 34 years), this pedal hits what I want in a guitar / bass compressor: big, natural sustain, with a hint of country...

    RAT vs RAT2

@jwin615 had the correct answers, IMHO. FYI: Like the original RATs, I typically do not build my versions of RATs with R15. For my taste, it drives output impedance to around 9K. I go with the straig up 100K level (volume) pot and enjoy the extra boost at lower gain settings. I personally...

    probably a really stupid question-

That concept can be expanded, from utilizing relays to venturing into digital switching and pre-set memory storage. An example of the latter, would be the JHS 'Muffelletta.'
