Solaris Delay - everything is better with tubes or something

Oh right, sorry, yeah I can get that up this weekend.

    An unbiased topology

As noted it's used pretty frequently in the audio world (and frankly in other non-audio analog circuits as well), and if you read an op-amp datasheet they typically call for a bipolar supply rather than a single supply. As also noted, pedals hold largely to the tradition of 9V batteries, so...

Boutique Pedal Manufacturers Are Feeling the Tariff Pinch

Ah that's what I had been missing, thanks for the clarification.

Boutique Pedal Manufacturers Are Feeling the Tariff Pinch

I checked there first, couldn't find what I'm looking for.

Boutique Pedal Manufacturers Are Feeling the Tariff Pinch

So... does anyone have a schematic for a good signal schmalzigrr?

Overdrive before a Nobelium in my signal chain

Correct that there is a pull-down on the input, and I've typically found a volume control being the last thing in circuit acts fine as a pull-down for the output. LED-related popping is certainly possible, I would be interested to hear your findings if you try adding a filter there. Relay bypass...

More voltage from the 555 smps

Higher input voltage can certainly help, but I definitely wouldn't recommend 18V into it. 18V is listed as the absolute max for NE555, but the stated operating max is 16V, so I wouldn't go higher than that. As noted if you're looking to get over 400V, swapping out the MOSFET for something with...

Solaris Delay - everything is better with tubes or something

I mentioned this one yesterday on the Your Workbench thread, and I just got the build document finished up so it's available for sale on the C2C website now. I have a Tayda drill template up for it, I'll get artwork files up for it soon. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles people put on...

    NAM A2 Raspberry project

I have all the parts on hand for a build, I just haven't had the time to put it together yet. I don't have a Whammy anymore, but I do have the XS-100 which is basically the same thing with some extra bells and whistles.

    Farty nobelium

Without any other information, a tube swap would be my best bet. If it's been running fine for years and just started having problems recently then tubes are high on my list of things to check.

    Automatic Wire Strippers

Reasonably straight. The bit on the right side with the rollers is a straightener, if the wires don't go in straight they can miss the blade. You have to babysit it a little bit to make sure alignment doesn't slip while it's running, but it goes FAST so even with a realignment every 100 or so it...

    Automatic Wire Strippers

I use the same Klein as @Ginsly for manual jobs, but as we all know I'm an obnoxious individual so I use one of these for most of my wiring because I know exactly what length I need and I know I need a couple hundred at a time.

Tungsten Preamp - another weird D.I. thing

Another quick update to the build doc: I've finally added a DIY drill template for this one.

Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

Psvane are Chinese. I recognize that they are one of the better Chinese tubes out there, but I personally don't like them. JJ are made in Slovakia so they should be easier to source than Russian tubes in Europe. JJ are my favorite because they're reasonably priced and kind of "middle of the...

Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

I don't know if it was just because of me or if there were others, but I like to think I was a contributing factor in that. Story time! When I first started building my pedals at a relatively large scale, I was ordering most of my stuff from CE Distribution, which is the wholesale arm of...

    SOLVED LabRat not working

You could also try throwing a 100k resistor in parallel with the A100k pot in the meantime. It will affect the taper so it won't be exactly the same thing, but it will give you an idea of the max gain setting with a 50k pot and get you some good mid-gain settings in the sweep.

    SOLVED LabRat not working

The plate voltage might sag a little with thirstier tubes, but it shouldn't really be a huge issue. If you're looking to get less distortion out of Lab Rat though a more effective option would be to drop the value of the gain pot. I personally like how an A50k works in here. Cranked 100% still...

Nobelium - tube bass preamp project

If tapping the tube creates noise through the amp, that is definitely microphonics. If you're only using the XLR output then you only need one tube, but if you're using the 1/4" output you'll need both, so you will likely want to try swapping in a different tube for lower noise.
