You can see the protection diodes for the OPA1678 on the first page of its data sheet.
When I used to use the OPA1642, I'd add protection diodes on the input like you see in the schematic for the General Tso compressor. I blew up at least one hotplugging the input jack.

The Bohemia is really good. It's a BJT treble boost into two JFET mu-amp stages. I think tacking on a one-knob cab sim on the output to dial in the tiny speaker/tiny box sound could be a viable shortcut.
Ground should be the lowest impedance node in your circuit, which makes it ideal as a reference voltage. When you use any other voltage as a bias point, you're increasing the chance of noise in your audio from that voltage source.
