The goal of the power section is to get clean (for some definition of clean) DC power to your effect circuit as efficiently as possible and prevent damage to the effect if you plug in the wrong polarity. As long as your design does that you're golden. Personally, I'm a fan of power sections...

I'm with you 100% on this. I ended up just fabbing some PCBs that match up to his kits DC and Boss slim line jack board and bought a bunch of premade jst connectors to speed up the build process and lessen my annoyance.
