Stupid question number 245: bipolar power

So I’ve built a load of pedals, Mutron clone, Aion’s L4 preamp PPCBs skeptical buffer who have used bipolar power supply’s. Most others use a monopolar power supply (if that’s what it’s called) +9v and gnd with the vref being fed into the input … I get that bipolar power supply is how older op...

    stupid question about Tayda/PPCB drilling....

quick question that's possibly so obvious that I've missed something... Tayda's PPCB drill templates are all listed as "sold out" - why? when do they become available?

Skeptical buffer build (a bassist’s build report)

here’s an odd one, a bloody buffer, who needs a buffer? Well a while back I helped a mate build a PPCB frequency interchange filter, and trying it at the start of my signal chain - even with the filters turned to have as little effect as possible it seemed to make a big change to my pedalboard...

Adding effects loop into pedal and avoiding ground loops…

I’ve searched, I’ve googled and lots of things about isolated power come up… If I wanted to add a switchable send return loop to a pedal design… presume buffer on send and return to avoid any impedance issues - is transformer isolation needed to avoid ground loops? Thinking of combing an input...

LED lights and charge pump issues... asking here as struggling

So asking here as it's full of people with knowledge.... and this is a problem I had 3 years ago and sold the pedal... then bought it back.... I have a pedal board. It sounds good. Power comes from a Cioks DC7 - with isolated supplies, included grounds isolated from one another. The DC7 plugs...

    Warwick Hellborg preamp transformer question

My favourite preamp ever is a Warwick Hellborg one - they made it for a short time and a silly price ... then blew them out cheap at Thomann and I hesitated and missed out... the thing is the magic was in the first preamp stage - I could turn the DI off and it would still sound great... From...

Understanding Lab Series' L4 (L5) Fender style tonestack

Hello I built @aion 's wonderful L4 preamp - channel 1 has a fender style tone stack - but it's missing the capacitor between the treble and bass going to the R6 that a fender tone stack would have.... I've stuck it in TSC and what I put in for the fender tone stack and what it shows is kinda...

Gorva m45 with top jacks - yay or nay?

I want to build a prunes and custard/curds and whey - but no bigger than 1590b - PedalPCB pcb is a little too wide for 1590b :( so looks like I’ll be doing my own Which got me looking at the smaller gorva m45 - which I know can be done with all top jacks - just is it a good idea too?!

SOLVED LED noise from signal indicator bleeding into audio signal …

Hello Need help … I built an Aion Lumitron - build report here https://forum.pedalpcb.com/threads/aion-lumitron-mutron-iii-with-some-mods-a-bass-player-solders.23253/ Schematic is here https://aionfx.com/app/files/docs/lumitron_documentation.pdf And a screen grab for your ease is here…...

Aion Lumitron (MuTron iii) - with some mods - a bass player solders

So I got a kit from Musikding and it all went together super quickly! It’s the Lumitron design of a Mutron 3 which was just super simple build - the sister board for the 3pdt footswitch is a bit different to the ppcb approach but makes sense I guess… While they make them nice and easy to build...

    MXR bass octave deluxe randomness

I picked up a secondhand broken pedal kit off someone, and he chucked in a faulty mxr bass overdrive deluxe for free. Basically the thing doesn’t seem to be filtering the signal going into the detector- so there’s a constant noise coming out when the bass is plugged in but muted. Roll off the...

Has anyone tried Z-DSP cards plugged into a PedalPCB project?

I was looking at some Reverb pedals, and realised the Neunaber pedals I liked were built on FV1 So started looking at some other reverbs and found some nice sounding things on the Z-DSP platform.... I then saw on some modular synth forum where they had decoded the pins on the cards to use in...

SOLVED Compressor indicator LED noisy turn on…

Right, so this might be a common problem but it’s impossible to google… I built Aions trace of the L4 preamp https://aionfx.com/app/files/docs/l4_bass_preamp_documentation.pdf It has a LED indicator that the limiter circuit is limiting. It switches on a bit late (ie well into limiting) but...

Increasing depth on low tide modulator

So I’ve built a low tide mini - and it’s good But I mainly play bass and typically I find I end up using the more extreme ends of modulation depths. That means the realistic part of the depth control that works for me is right at the end - Is there a way to mod the circuit to increase the...

SOLVED Low tide mini... is it possible to fry a Mn3207??...

So I built a Low tide mini and a Chop shop... neither worked first time... but it's my first time using SMD components so it must be that right? The chop shop it turned out to be the 2N2222 that needed replacing and it works... The low tide mini is a bit more daunting to look at... So first...
