    Yellow Hybrid Tonebender stripboard build

Just finished my Sola Sound Yellow Hybrid Tonebeder clone, built from the Dirtbox Layouts layout! For transistors I used a BC107, BC109, and an ASY75 for the germanium purchased from Small Bear. To get the proper bias of around 2.6V on the Q3 collector I had to swap the R11 value from 220k to...

SOLVED Hybrid Yellow Tonebender stripboard build: tone pot weirdness

I breadboarded and then built a Yellow Hybrid Tonebender clone on stripboard based on this Dirtbox Layouts page. It seemed to be working fine on the breadboard, but now that I built it on stripboard something seems off with the "tone"/"treble-bass" knob. At full CCW/treble side it sounds good...

    Purple Paragon Mini

Built a Paragon Mini with BA282 and 1S1588 diodes, "warm" mods, high gain right side low gain red side! I'm a little mad at myself for spending nearly forty bucks on "mojo" diodes, but uhh... well I did. That said, the pedal sounds really good! I have not played a "real" KoT to compare too but...

Sourcing and measuring J201 JFETs for a Chop Shop

So I'm wanting to build a Chop Shop. I've read that it can be picky about it's J201 JFETs, and read in another thread that ideally you want Q1 to have an Idss in the 600-800 uA range and Q2 an Idss around 400-600uA. I have not worked with JFETs before, but I assume this means that I should buy...

    Reeves ZO stripboard build

This is my second stripboard build, a Reeves Electric Zo, their take on the silicon Zonk II fuzz. I used a layout from Dirtbox Layouts. Great sounding pedal! For transistors I used a pair of 2N2222s at around 200hFE. The Zo has really nice clarity throughout the sweep of the Drift (gain/fuzz)...

Breadboarded a circuit that I like: two-knob germanium Electra

The past weak or so I've been watching/reading up on breadboarding and the Electra distortion circuit. Yesterday I breadboard the basic version (my first breadboard pedal) and then a modded version taking cues from JHS's "Shrieking Eel" Electra variant that he built on his youtube channel...

    Electra-type circuit: reducing volume?

So I breadboarded a circuit based on the "Shrieking Eel" Electra distortion that JHS made on their Youtube channel. I made the following changes changes: -Deleted the "body" control, replaced that section with just a 100nf cap -Swapped the transistor for a NPN germanium (tested at 151hFE on...

A pair of Sunflower fuzzes: the twin Sunmans by Analogface

What's better than a Sunman fuzz by Analogface? Two Sunmans by Analogface! I built this pair for my brother and I. He's the older one, and I hold him responsible for getting me into rock music/guitars/gear. We're both fuzz face fans, so I decided to build some for us. He'll have to wait till...

    Astrotone on stripboard

Built my first stripboard pedal, an Astrotone circuit with the Analgman specs with the layout from Dirtbox Layouts! For transistors I used a pair NOS 2N3565 from Small Bear that tested at about 212 and 260hFe. I tried a higher gain 2N3565 in Q2 and that gave a little more fuzz but was darker...

Hammered light blue paint for enclosure?

This might seem like a very silly question, but I'm planning a silicon Zonk ii/Reeves Zo build and was hoping to paint the enclosure in a hammertone light blue metallic paint like the original. I was thinking that I could drive down to the hardware store or Walmart and pickup up a can, but it...

    Crunch Captain Deluxe low volume?

I recently built a Crunch Captain Deluxe and it sounds good and seems to be working but overall volume is low. With the Mode switch in the middle (classic Crunch Box/high gain) and clipping switch to the right (LED clipping, the lighter clipping option) with Gain at noon I have to nearly max...

    SOLVED Intermittent foot switch issues

The footswitch on my recently finished Simulcast is having an issue: when in bypass it usually passes the signal normally, but sometimes the signal gets weak/scraggly and goes back to normal if I I softly tap it. What would likely be causing the issue? Bad switch, bad wiring? Thanks

Three builds! Simulcast, Titania2, Crunch Captain Deluxe

Today I finished up the last of the three builds that I've been working on! The first build was the Simulcast. Populating the board went fine, but I hadn't boxed a pedal in a long time so I made a lot of mistakes. First try I wired the power backwards, jack input/output and grounds backwards...

Accidentally bought 1590B enclosures instead of 125B...

So I ordered the bulk of my components for three pedal builds from Tayda and just realized that I ordered three 1590B enclosures instead of 125B. The build documents (Titania2, Crunch Captain Deluxe, Simulcast) all call for 125b, but it looks like I could maybe put the Titania2 in a 1590B. Is it...

Recommend transistors for Titania2 and Simulcast?

I've caught the pedal building bug again and ordered pcbs for a Crunch Captain Deluxe, Titania2, and and Simulcast. I do not have much knowledge of transistors but understand that they can make a big difference in fuzz circuits. Anyone have recommendations for a "low gain silicon" for the...

Installing a fuzz in a jazzmaster

Hey there! Newbie builder here; I've put together a few kits but don't have much technical knowhow. A few months back I built myself a jazzmaster with an onboard Colorsound one knob fuzz built on a pcb from Tayda replacing the rhythm circuit. The one knob fuzz is massive, sounding actually a bit...
