I still use transistor sockets. The annoyance of desoldering outweighs the potential need to reseat a transistor for me. And I've never really noticed any particular excessive noise. Now if I was touring and throwing pedals around all day, that would be a different story.

I hear that--but you are talking about the redundancy of diodes in the original design? Did the rerouting of R1 to ground require D1 be removed for the circuit to function properly, then?

It might have to do with the feedback loop that CDB attenuated in his mods, but I agree that if it's a different version, you have to see the schematic to hazard a guess.

According to the GGG schematic, it's 100n. If you go to the other thread, feral feline did a solid and outlined the changes from a green Russian. There are a couple other changes as well.
