    Lab Rat build!

I had interpreted it as "up is LEDs" as well.

Testing the testing rig: Madbean Pedals ProtoRig Jr. + PPCB Uber Drive (Boss SD-1)

Glad to be of service! That's a super mint-looking build for your first one, definitely could have fooled me as well. Glad things are working out, it only gets better/more addictive from here 😂

    ICL7660SCPAZ vs TC1044SCPA

Yep, the non-"S" versions have their onboard oscillator in the audio range and so are unsuitable for our purposes.

    Sushi Box Space Heater

Ooh, top tip, thank you. I'll keep an eye out!

Photos of these enclosure colours from Tayda? Matte Violet/Viola Pink/Pastel Violet

I mean, I had the silver hammer enclosure my Nobelium went into arrive with a label reading "Beer", so maybe someone at the factory is having some fun, or these are codenames for something we're not privy to...

    Even more new Tayda colors!

    Sushi Box/C2CE Nobelium

Thanks! I think this was anomalous, Tayda has been pretty precise for me every time in the past and these holes were not off by much - if the board was smaller, it wouldn't have been an issue at all.

    Sushi Box/C2CE Nobelium

Last Monday's holiday here in Canada gave me an excuse to finally put together my Nobelium, after a looooooooong time of the parts just sitting next to me on the desk. This is my third @vigilante398 project, and they never cease to be enjoyable builds that give kick-ass results. Here she is...

    What's on the workbench?

Kreuzer Submarine! Really awesome tone-conditioning type of bass preamp. Really happy to see this here. EDIT: Or rather the Zeibek pedal of the same name, which I think was a collab with Kreuzer...? 🤔

    4 legged germanium

Fourth leg is the "body". In some circuits, this is just tied to the emitter - try that first.

    Retrospectives II - "Germanium Giant"

[Copy-paste of intro blurb from the last time I did this:] I've been at the pedal building game for quite some time now, and I feel like I've come a huge way from my dad helping me solder up my very first Big Muff (love you, Dad) wherein I overpaid for every component, didn't understand the...

Turn your input buffer (OPAMP) into a (frequency adjustable) boost for 3$

Cool idea! Definitely gonna add this to my list of circuit snippets and play with it in some bigger circuits.

    Dark Theme?

    Yep, it's better!

    Dark Theme?

Yay! I like it too (save the aforementioned bold/non-bold issue). Thanks!

Here's another Viola Pink in different lighting for you:

Breadboard Quality - Stick With Brand Name?

I'd get both - I use the flywire ones frequently (they're good for getting around big components or making connections that you expect to plug and unplug a lot, or to bridge sections that are spaced far apart if you're prototyping large circuits).

Breadboard Quality - Stick With Brand Name?

I'd say so! You can get a lot of mileage out of a board like that. You can definitely build Electras and all manner of classic transistor fuzzes on something like that to your heart's content.

    1uf Non-Electrolytic - What To Use?

No worries! It's situational, sometimes builds call for polarized 1uF as well. But when they're in the signal path like this, it can sometimes be hard to tell which side will have higher potential, so it's "safer" to just put a non-polarized part in there. The risk of getting the polarity wrong...

    STFU Optical Noise Gate

    Great build!

Breadboard Quality - Stick With Brand Name?

Yeah I've been using the Tayda breadboards and have exactly this problem. They're cheap but not extremely high quality.
