Graphics: vectorizing images (without Adobe Illustrator) and new fonts for Affinity

I have enjoyed using Adobe Illustrator, but I have grown frustrated with the cost. I've downloaded my Affinity Designer trial and learning it. However, I need some help to learn where or how to vectorize images. From what I can tell, Affinity does not vectorize images. If it doesn't, what programs do you all use? I don't mind paying for the program, especially if it is a reasonable one time payment.

Lastly, where do you all get new fonts for Affinity? I like the access to the fonts with Adobe....

After your vectorize in Inkscape, save as a SVG file. Next, import it into Affinity. Is this correct?

You can save vectorized graphic as svg or pdf.

I tried Vector Magic online, liked the results, and looked for the desktop version. Quite pleased!

Inkscape here too, I use it frequently to vectorize graphics for pedal- and non-pedal related work. It's free and quite good, although a bit of a learning curve if you are used to working with bitmaps.
