What's your favorite tremolo pedal circuit?

These days I've been enjoying the VFE Old School, as it has dynamic options to base the depth or speed on your picking, which is very nice once dialed in.

How do you install your footswitches ? What to do with the various rings ?

Hey! Thanks so much for the kind words. Reminds me to finish some builds I've got on the go. To be honest, my older builds mostly all used the white washers, simply because I had a huge stash of 3PDT switches that came with them. Eventually even places like Tayda have started providing switches...

    Lightspeed on vero

Thanks! There's a lot crackling and texture from trying to bake this in an oven years ago, then sanding most of that off, but thinking some of it looked cool. Ha

    Lightspeed on vero

Wanted to add a shot of the sides, as I tried to make sure the lines wrapped around (none of it is perfect, but looks cool enough).

    Lightspeed on vero

Been on the hunt for a new overdrive to use in front of my Templo Nomad amp, as I want something with a tone control to replace my old 250 build. I found the Benson Preamp underwhelming, so I figured I'd try the Lightspeed, as folks rave about it. So far I can see the appeal! It sounds great...

Tayda 125b won't screw closed? - Use a Machine Tap!

Happened to me with 2 screws on enclosure. I was able to use a self tapping screw to bore out the hole (but that snapped off inside one, alas). Good news was Tayda gave me a $10 credit

    Mach 1 (Greer Lightspeed)

Nice! Looks great. I haven't boxes my tagboard version up yet, but do really like it so far.

    PPCB Son of Ben

I just read about that. Sounds interesting! Have to check if I have an NPN Germanium. How's the gain/dirt on it? Basically, I'd like to be able to dial in some dirt while also shaping the EQ a bit. The Greer Lightspeed has been my new favourite so far.

    PPCB Son of Ben

Funny, as I just populated one of these too. I wanted to like it, as I'm looking for an OD with tone options, but feel the same way as you so far.

DEMO How I Painted This: One of a kind Destiny Behemoth

Yeah, for sure. I abandoned the paint pens I used to use. Lately I've been liking a quill/nib to dip into paint/ink. Great for detailed lines and lettering.

DEMO How I Painted This: One of a kind Destiny Behemoth

Very nice. Thanks! I've been using a dip pen with paint pen refills for ink, but a brush gives me hope as well

SOLVED Son of Ben Preamp - Potentiometer grounds the output in enclosure

Are you using pots without plastic covers on the bottom? If so, it could be touching the board and shorting.

DEMO How I Painted This: One of a kind Destiny Behemoth

Very inspiring. Do you do the lettering by hand with a brush/pen?

Ridiculously loud output volume with Roboto

For what it's worth, I've built a few Robotos and they were all obscenely loud

My first build. Low tide. Made a mistake. Is this redeemable?

I'm no expert, but I don't think there's a market for fake SMD versions yet, as you can get real ones cheap, so I don't see why these would be fake. Never dealt with that shop before though

    A tip for your tip?

My iron has an auto sleep that lowers the temp and an auto shut off if I leave and forget it (which I swear I never do...shh)

Good brand of paint pens for enclosure?(Artistro sucks)

I've started ditching the pens and just using the giant refills of paint you can buy for them (I think I have Posca or Molotow) and an artist's dip/caligraphy nib instead. Much more control and less waste (no globs or shaking needed).

My first build. Low tide. Made a mistake. Is this redeemable?

Yeah, would be tricky to get in there with an SMD version. That said, you could do an MMBFJ201 on a thru-hole adapter, like the ones PedalPCB sells directly. Guaranteed to be an authentic J201 and will work in your socket. I understand the frustration, for sure. For harder to find stuff, like...

My first build. Low tide. Made a mistake. Is this redeemable?

You could measure the J201, but that would require building/breadboarding a test rig to get it right (as per this post). In my case, turns out a batch of mine are way off spec to the point that they "work" depending on the circuit, but are likely fake. Where are you located? I could send you a...
