    Extracting FX10 tone control

Haha, probably. Okay, that's pretty much how I was planning to use it. Is the value of the resistor not critical then?

    Extracting FX10 tone control

Hi all, I'm very fond of my DOD FX10, and especially the tone control in it. I want to add the tone control to other circuits I'm experimenting with, but have a question on how to do that. Here's the schematic: VB is being supplied through the level potentiometer to IC1B (tone circuit), so to...

    Sunn 2000s Pre

On the 200s adaptation, it was labelled as mids, but the 200s doesn't have a mids knob, and on the 2000s it's called Contour, which is a better name in my experience, it's more of a shift control. On the original 200s, the Hi switch does the same thing as the Contour on the 2000s, but to a set...

    Sunn 2000s Pre

Ah, good catch, completely forgot to update those when I decided to run it at 18v instead of 9v. I wasn't sure how much drive that would prove to have, most of the drive from the 2000s does come out of the power valves breaking up, so maybe it would be best to omit the master and socket C2 to...

    Sunn 2000s Pre

Perfect! Thank you, that's what I thought, seemed odd that the 200s had the pots scaled but not the component values. The pot values in my drawing were based of some further discussion I found on the 200s plan, but I'll take the original values and set about calculating and modeling the changes...

    Sunn 2000s Pre

My #1 amp for...jeez, 15 years? has been a Sunn 2000s. Absolutely love the things, still have 2 that trade duties. I saw a schem and build for a 200s in a box recently, and thought "hell, why not the 2000s". The 200s build was a bit in between the two, as it included a 'mid' control, but left...

    Mr Black double tracker

I've been working up a schematic for a double-tracking ish analog circuit. Electric Druid has a circuit emulating the EHX Slapback and calculations for setting the delay time of the PT2399 via resistors, and using those equations, I added a rotary to switch between resistors for short delay...

Adapting old BBD circuits to MN3007

That's what I've been doing thus far, and it's been helpful, was wondering if there was more info out there that I was missing out on, or maybe what reference book to look at for some insight. I appreciate the tip, I know it's a a fair bit more complicated that a lot of part swapping in more...

Help me choose a bass compressor circuit...

My vote is the Milkbox/Creamery. It's one of the few non-studio rack compressors I've found useful on my pedalboard. The Hi Expander is really handy, and it adds some nice coloration. I built the Creamery, and it sounds good, though I need to go back thru as I ran into some odd behavior with the...

Adapting old BBD circuits to MN3007

I've seen a few older circuits that originally utilized hard to source BBDs updated to use MN3007s (Lectric FX Karaoke, Flintlock, Electric Mistresses). I'm interested in building an update of the DOD 690 Chorus, which used the SAD512 (also the R5106, which are still findable though not cheap)...

    Clean Blend with LPF

Thought some other builders might be interested in this. As primarily a bassist myself, I do like having a blend on overdrive/distortions/fuzzes/comps. However, I find just a standard clean blend can end up sounding more like you're layering two signals together, rather than just bringing in...

    9mm Potentiometer support tabs?

Yep, this is how I intended it. Cramming two Ashly SC-40s in a box, and I want to populate the board like with 16mm with components on the other side, and didn't want to have to work around the tabs for routing. Plenty of space around the pots themselves to be easily turned. And thanks for the...

TUTORIAL Why Your Clean Blends Suck ... or "How to (Clean) Blend"

Thought I'd post this here, PRR on diystompboxes I believe came up with a schematic for a simplified ROG Split n Blend: Note incorrect labelling on U1B. As primarily a bassist, I like having a blend on distortion/fuzz, but a full frequency blend can end up sounding more like two signals, and I...

    9mm Potentiometer support tabs?

Might be a dumb question, but did a fair bit of searching on this and other forums and didn't see a definitive answer (could be a missed something). I have a design I'm working on that's very dense, and I want to use 9mm potentiometers. All that I can find have those support tabs sticking down...

    Ashly SC-40 Clone

Excellent, thank you! Good to know about their sensitivity as well. That's what I was thinking, if it was under 100 mA I could get away with the TEC 3. Looked at the TMR 6 too, but I think the TMR 4 will work well as my solution. I did also see this as a possible option...

    Ashly SC-40 Clone

@disssa out of curiosity, do you happen to know the current draw of your SC-40 build? In planning to build a dual version, I'm looking at the Traco power converters, the 2-0923 outputs 67mA, but wondering how much of that the circuit uses if I need to go with a version like the TMR 4 that...

    Ashly SC-40 Clone

Great, that's very helpful info! I've been meaning to get around to making these for a while, but had some other projects on the docket first, namely an Acoustic 360+ preamp in a rack (on pause until I can source a good unit with the faceplate done how I'd like). I think I'll do the SC-50 as...

    Ashly SC-40 Clone

If you don't mind me asking, how is the noise levels with these, and what filtering did you use around the module? I know Aion FX uses a 2-0923 in the Eclipse Boost (schematic seen in the documentation here: link), did you set up the filtering around it in a similar way? Love to see the old...

    Ashly SC-40 Clone

Let me correct myself, upon looking closer, I think it's actually the TEC 3-0913, not the 3-1213. Think I'll pick some up for builds I'm working on, just need to figure out if anything special needs to be done when wiring it in.
