Yeah, I think there's something wrong because I don't really hear the same sound in demos I've listened to. I should note that I'm using bc549c right now, but I've cycled through a few. I don't have any BC108, so I have to try other ones.

I've tried a few different transistors, but I'm getting similar issues with my Sandspar Fuzz (silicon fuzzface) making some interesting noises when the fuzz is cranked up to max. At first I thought it sounded kind of cool, like a broken record, but I'm trying to figure out how to make it go...

Any chance to add a feature to the website to display products in a single column/list view? Personally, I find it much easier to scroll down without having to dart eyes left and right a bunch of times. Browsing large categories like Distortion or Overdrive would really benefit from this change...

I've removed backwards boards before. It's not that hard so long as the pins are quite a bit smaller than the pads, which in is likely the case, given how much clearance there is with most 3PDT. Just hit a few at a time if you're worried about the heat. And use good wick.

No, I had this same question at one point too. The ground and onboard/offboard wires aren't routed symmetrically so they don't work correctly when the board backwards. There's a reason why it says that side down.

Sounds like you have done a good deal of leg work. Do you have any of those variants published with notes on how they sound? Or any other guidance to share beyond what you wrote above? I will probably build another Muffin Fuzz or two and then maybe tackle a Muffin Factory. It's daunting to think...

But I will certainly be building a second muff sometime soon and will definitely take your advice to let me ear guide me. What are your thoughts on the Muffin Factory? I feel like that might be too many permutations for my OCD mind.

This pedal is far too loud for me. I would like the volume knob to be more operable. What can I change in order to help reduce the output?

The other side is the switch itself. Also, there's much less clearance on the other side, I think.

I don't know what "relatively cheap" is these days but if you're a buy-once-cry-once kind of a person, a BF Princeton Reverb is the golden ticket. A reissue can be had for ~$650 if you really shop around. Or you can hobble something together from a kit for around the same price.
