    First build component sourcing

I had an electrolytic cap explode on me the very first time I ever used a breadboard. It was startling but educational for sure. Funny to look back on now.

    3-way splitter

I don’t remember where I got mine from but it was saved in my Tayda account, if you’re interested. It’s verified, I did build this with the faceplate. https://drill.taydakits.com/box-designs/new?public_key=U2lRZGZtMnVDRi81cFNoR2taRXg0UT09Cg==

    EMU Drill Template

Did you ever end up building this? Also, did you use the XLR out successfully as well?

Love the pie slice, that's a great looking pedal! Are the graphics/lettering vinyl?

    Jlcpcb and tariffs

My big enclosures order that I ordered on 8/10 from tayda shipped this morning. Does it get in under the wire?! TBD. 😬

High headroom Preamp Pedal Schematic Design Help

Hey we all started from somewhere at some point. I don’t know where you’re located but I’d imagine you could probably find a way to get a breadboard for relatively cheap from somewhere closer that won’t take months to ship. If you already built a scenario preamp then you know how to source...

High headroom Preamp Pedal Schematic Design Help

Haha it was the section headers formatted like ChatGPT that really gave it away. I didn’t mean to shame. You can learn a lot from ChatGPT but I’d highly recommend you get yourself a breadboard and some components and try putting it all to use. Start with something simple like a fuzz face. If...

What to make with 30-50 hFE Germaniums

Rangemaster style circuits do well with this level of gain. It’s recommended to maybe be on the upper end of this range to a little higher but I auditioned some 30-50s in a couple of my builds and they sounded great!

    Fumble boost 1590b

Tayda does have the B2M pots as well, but I’m sure the PedalPCB one will work great! https://www.taydaelectronics.com/b2m-ohm-linear-taper-potentiometer-round-shaft-pc-mount-l.html

    Fumble boost 1590b

I'm not at home right now so I don't have the board on hand to verify, but I'm pretty sure C14 on the diagram is actually C1, C6 is C2. I'm pretty sure if you order everything on the BOM you'll have what you need. So, two 100n film caps, one 100p ceramic, and all 3 electrolytics listed. As...

    Even more new Tayda colors!

Ah man I do almost everything in matte white so if this is true that’s a bummer for sure.

SWITCH-CRAFT (got any creative uses of switches?)

I recently was looking at the octaking octave fuzz schematic and I appreciated the smart use of switching to achieve a logical layout When the switch is up, c2 and c3 are in parallel resulting in 10n3 net capacitance. In the middle position c3 is out of the circuit, resulting in a 4n7 net...

    Fumble boost 1590b

When JHS dropped the notadumble I picked one up. I didn't care much for the zendrive circuit, but I did really like the boost. It has been on my board since I got it, but taking up way too much space for a simple clean boost, so I was stoked to be able to get it into a smaller 1590b enclosure to...

    Paragon Mini - No Sound

I once had a ribbon cable like that fail on me, there was a break in the wire inside. It’s a long shot, but maybe worth checking for continuity on both ends. Is the red LED still not working? Are you using an audio probe to trace the audio through, is that how you know it is stopping at the op amp?

    Desolders

Yes. Kinda depends on how often you desolder and whether it’s worth it to have the electrical pump built in. I hate desoldering stuff and I figured it would be worth it to have the tool for the next decade plus. I have a Weller manual solder sucker and for one offs it is totally fine for...
