    Here is the top PCB board with white components highlighted. There are a lot of areas that are prone to touch the bottom PCB with only a 3mm spacer as Feral pointed out!!!     It's definitely got the JCM800 Gain available. Did you try turning the Tone trimmer as that has a massive effect on the Sound, mine is at 9.00 O'clock if 7.00 is fully C.C.W.
