I’ve read that for an inverting op amp stage I’ve input impedance is basically equally to the resistor into the - input. So for the magnetron that would only be 100k. Can anyone either confirm if that’s correct theory, or test if there’s an audible difference with or without a buffer before it?

Yeah it's similar but the filtering of the repeats is a bit different, I think just personal preference. I can see that the R and C values and some of the signal routing is different, but I haven't built the magnetron to compare how different it actually sounds to the Deep Blue.
