I really like my Meridian as well, built to bass specs. The harmonics control is the cherry on top.

    Filling pickguard holes

I agree! Though this bass is only about 20 years old.

    Tascam guitar trainer cd-gt1

Did you get that off Goodwill? I think I had that in my watch list :ROFLMAO: I had the Alesis equivalent in the early 2000's. I really liked it as it was able to slow the song down without changing the pitch. It made learning bass parts much easier. I don't know if the Tascam does that...

What strings do you guys use?

I had some Chromes on my P bass for about a decade, I changed them about 4 years ago to try the TIs, and these are just feeling broken in. Flats are like wine.

What strings do you guys use?

It's the only time it's happened in almost 25 years of playing. I'm sure it was a defect but I was a poor college student at the time and bass strings are expensive 😂

What strings do you guys use?

I refuse to buy DR strings because I bought some Sunbeams like 20 years ago and I snapped the G after like two days and I've held a grudge ever since 😂

What strings do you guys use?

I really love the way a J sounds, but it just doesn't seem to fit into things as well as a P does. I think that has more to do with my personal tastes more than anything, though. The jazz just seems to take up a lot more space in a song, I guess.

What strings do you guys use?

I use TI Jazz Flats on my P Fedora rounds on my Jazz and MM SUB The Fedora stings are really mean sounding, which I really appreciate considering I use my P 99% of the time. I'm always surprised when I pick up my J and it's so growly and aggressive.

    Beginner looking for advice

Soldering can be excellent for helping to focus. It's like meditating for me when I get into it. Start with a small and easy board and just go for it. The Mercurial Boost (everyone needs a Mercurial Boost) would be a good one. Worst case you screw it up and as long as you learn something from...

Right on. It's usually something simple, glad you got it going. Might as well soldier them in if you like how it sounds and are going to use it.

    Dizzy Tone clone

I've only got experience with the NPN version, but you shouldn't be getting high pitched noise or crackling with a DT. Might want to check and see that all of your transistor legs are connected properly since they're not soldered. Maybe try rechecking and reflowing every component. There aren't...
