SOLVED Aphrodite Overdrive... Anyone built yet?

Boxes and done. I went for the pcb and no issues that I had at first with the breadboard/vero attempt. And yes, quite a loud one, but nice sound. Dimed all 5 but perhaps too much... Will need some time to play around with Gain and Drive to figure this one out better.

Stuff you wanted to know but were afraid to ask

Good you got it sorted! I hope you found that you picked up some methodology etc along the way, that will help further on down the path towards pedal build obsession. A bit surprised that the order is different from the doc. "Mode is a rotary switch that selects between four different tone...

    A Hive-Mind Quandary on J201 JFETs

Did it change quite recently? Got the unit a few weeks ago and it says 0029. Is there an even newer that "fixes" this?

Stuff you wanted to know but were afraid to ask

A1 should be full CCW and A4 should be full CW as seen from above looking at the shaft. Does the A or the 1 when full CCW go to one of 1-6 on the daughterboard? If so, the same number but on the PCB should either go to C11 cap or Tone pot pin 2? If you are able to map 1-6 to letter/number on the...

Stuff you wanted to know but were afraid to ask

You can do a lot of continuity testing before you get them though. Map out where 1-6 go and get aquainted with the schematic-pcb interaction.

    A Hive-Mind Quandary on J201 JFETs

I got a batch of 5 J201s. Only one showed values with DCA75, the others were either "not connected" or "2 diodes" depending on the pins to DCA-connector combinations. So I breadboarded the Greatly improved JFET matcher II as linked above. I tested the working one and a 2N5457 in both and got...

Stuff you wanted to know but were afraid to ask

Yes, a DMM in continuity mode should show the positions. A-1, B-1, C-1 connected when full CCW as seen from above facing the stem as in the last picture just above. Next hack towards CW connects A-2, B-2 and C-2 And so on. You can also make a continuity check with the schematic and the pcb to...

    Micro Set and Micro Sol

I am trying out Microscale liquids. After printing decal paper on Inkjet I put coats of varnish on to set the colors and prevent them from dissolving later on in the process. I go over horizontally in 3 lines to cover the sheet, then vertically 4-5 times. Then let it rest for 2 mins. Then...

Is it possible to wire an illuminated red/green 3PDT to a standard switchboard ?[SOLVED]

Unless working with gas/gasol/propane... Then it is "lefty tighty/righty loosey". (Wouldn't want the world to blow up just because some words rhyme...)

    Nein

Just got hold of a tester, but I am not quite sure what I should be matching with regards to the J201's? Exactly the same values as @Robert would have been great, but my collection did not match anything exactly. So are there any other values to focus on? Or values that should be similar, or as...

Switching order dual overdrive (AionFX Gladiator/King Tone Duellist)

I will try with LT spice to simualye/emulate and see what that gives. The schematic indicate that the input stages of the build are quite similar, so would seem input impedance would be similar regadless of swithing position. Output migt be different though. If the first IC is doing the...

    LDR matching (Xenotron example)

Thanks, Anyone with any thoughts on matching in general: Is light resistance or dark resistance more important to match? Or varies greatly with build/context?

    LDR matching (Xenotron example)

From reading up on a few posts, LDR matching can be very important. (E.g. Phase II as @Chuck D. Bones wrote in #5 here). Is it mostly important to match the light or the dark resistance? Or is that very situation dependent? I am looking at Xenotron build...

Switching order dual overdrive (AionFX Gladiator/King Tone Duellist)

I double posted this question on another forum as well. And since then I have come up with a possible solution, so here it is: I think I have figured out as much as that the wires in the wiring schematic from AionFX doc would need to "desolder" the wire+pad labelled: Jack In, Snd, Ret and Jack...

what green LEDs for General Tso?

I found this thread very useful when building my Tso, so even if I am quite late to the thread I will still share my finding. I had green dimmed and green a bit brighter LEDs to try out. For some reason I wanted the clearer one to the right to be the "best", but the dimmed one gave more...
