    What's on the workbench?

Why do I keep saying the name of that in Rick James voice?! I could see this being a super useful pedal to have!

    Cobalt / BD-2

I’m lazy and need to get on them! I’m notorious for never fully completing anything. I build it, test it, box it up and throw knobs on it. By the time it comes to labels and build reports, those seem to never happen. If you add up all that I have here now, I’m have around 50 completed...

    Cobalt / BD-2

Nice build Just did one myself a couple weeks back, also thinking it was an easy day…wasn’t. But for me, the big time sink was trying to use 1/4w resistors Honestly don’t know why it’s taken me this many years to really try one!

    What's on the workbench?

I was wondering if you would get these or the Peavey pedals first

    Attenuators... Will Likely Need One

They do…and trust me you want to use it! The way they stage some of the solid state components in the amp, you will get some nasty clipping before the power tubes start really work if I remember correctly (of course that may vary depending on revision…the one I had was the grey rug covered...

    Points/Rewards System

I’m also a big fan of the “double points” days… especially when they fall on Sundays- always the quickest times in and out of the “grocery store” My bets are that Robert’s accountant must have voted Niiiiiceee!!! Did I miss some good drama? Trip to Cancun? I’m just happy to get enough points...

why ppcb hasn't made the classic MXR Microamp?

You could absolutely use the od250 board. Other than a few component changes (and only using 1 lnob and not 2), the circuits are nearly identical. In fact, Tonepad and some others sell the same Board to do the Distortion+, OD250, and MicroAmp and just list the part differences in the BOM

    Aion Spectron

nice!! After seeing how cool that build looks…and reading the documentation on it (thank you again!) looks like I’ll be adding yet another to my “to build” queue!

    Salesman Overdrive Issues

Is there some documentation here or elsewhere on how to set the limit washer proper;y?

    Little Monk JTM584

Agreed on all points. And you bring up a good point- in the champ topology, it definitely is power tube being driven, where in most push pull amps, the phase inverter acts as a limiter and breaks up while keeping the power tubes from clipping. But simple amps like this have so much room to...

    Little Monk JTM584

Dude! Great job!!! I definitely hear the super bass/jTM vibe going on. You are right a bit of NFB will help take out some of the harshness. Others you won’t get out- there is just a bit of magic that the cathode follower, long tail PI and push pull output do that we can’t “naturally” get...

    Even more new Tayda colors!

Damn! Wish I would have waited a bit before building the “Face Melter” drive!

Another Amp Project - the Dino Deluxe 5E3!

Nice work on that! 5E3 is definitely a fun amp to build (and play!). Nails the Hotel California and later Eagles tones as well as Neil Young and Larry Carlton. Quite a rush to get an amp going, isn’t it? The volume controls are also interactive when channels aren’t jumped, but in a...

This Week on the Breadboard: Boss OD-3

Love the OD3! Works great as a low-mid gain standalone distortion into a clean amp as well as holds up nicely as an overdrive! May want to try these mods though!

    Enclosure Drilling

Wonder if a mild dish soap would provide the same benefits? That would also wash off w/o residue. That said for enclosures I need to paint, I always clean with acetone first, so I rarely have to worry about cutting oil residue, but if I can avoid it in the first place I’m willing to try the...

    Enclosure Drilling

I use pre-drilled whenever possible. But when I have to do all drilling or partial, I use the paper template to see which holes to use my Keech Designs 3d printed template which I use to mark holes with a center punch. I then go on the drill press and use a small center drill to do pilot holes...

    Lead Solder Buzz

Are you positive the toggle switch isn’t touching the bass pot legs? I know with mine it was touching and I saw it just before firing up. Made a fishpaper condom for the switch body so it didn’t touch the pot. Not sure this is your problem but it’s cheap insurance form other issues.
