Physical size is indeed all it really boils down to. Film or box caps don't really matter because they all have voltage ratings way higher than what is running through your pedal. The exception to this rule is when sourcing your polarized electrolytic caps. They are the larger tubular ones. They have lower voltage ratings so you will need to pay attention to the max voltage rating on them. All PCB's here require the standard 9v to operate. Some of the PCB's have in circuit charge pumps that convert the 9v into something slightly higher, like maybe 18v or even slightly higher. So that is what's running through your pedal. Any caps rated below that will have problems. General rule of thumb for electrolytics is to double 9v. So that would be 18v, but if there's a charge pump than there may be a problem. Long story short...Buy nothing lower than 25v for electrolytics and anything under 100v for box caps and you can build everything on the site.
