6 band enclosure test run

Tried out my makeshift end mill this morning and overall I think the results were pretty good. If I had to do it on a regular basis I would definitely upgrade from the harbor freight drill press. Too much play in the chuck when doing the plunge hole. It’s fine when it’s in the groove but a little to wobbly on the plunge. I can live with it though. Just slightly enlarged on the one end. 03693BDC-BE8F-4220-A67C-6306F3EAF014.jpeg 9218A4C1-AC5C-4E2A-9331-EDF52DD5C110.jpeg

they look like much neater slots that I was able to get with a drill and dremel. fortunately the faceplate for the 6 band eq is pretty forgiving.

The movable vise makes it pretty easy. 4 slots took about an hour. I moved it along nice and slow

That looks great!!! DIY at its finest.
Thanks. I’m still not ready to do the final enclosure yet. I did another test run this morning where I pre drilled the pilot hole by hand first. Then I lowered the mill bit in and proceeded. It went much better as long as you drop the bit in perfect. If I had a better quality drill press without all of that play in the chuck this would actually be a piece of cake.

Some more pics in case anybody wants to go this route. Once you do it a couple of times it actually gets quite easy. Just can’t rush it. It took me a little less then an hour to do the four slots E6A00763-AD36-4EAB-8645-759F5C2F9181.jpeg 473847CA-0882-40A7-9AB6-FFABEDFAA0DC.jpeg
