file under “you don’t know if you’ve gone far enough until you’ve gone too far”

Might be just the thing for a one knob fuzz, bu in general it’s just trying tooooo hard…

You could highlight it by painting, then sanding, buffing all the paint off except in the lines. Used to do that with "liver of sulfur" which would oxidize silver with a nice black patina, then buff around it... Or perhaps that etching compound you use in a very mild dilution instead of paint.....

just something to play with!!!

I like it.

I bet it looks the part and better integrates after playing with RetiredUnit1's suggestions.

Though the washer is quite large and covers a fair amount of the etch, you have to concede that it was an afterthought.

If you had that washer in mind at the very beginning of the overall design process then the pedal etch would've compensated for the size of the washer. If you want to see oversized "washers", you can't beat Pete:

Yes, good point, Actually I wasn't intending to use in on the pedal in the photo, I just threw it on that box I was working on because that's what was on the bench when I got the washers in the mail.

I have a couple of Fuzz pedal's I'm designing right now that i might be able to work one of these washers into.

Applied some blacking the buffed off the washer on the bottom.

The ridges are super shallow so it's pretty subtle.

I'll drop one in the Ferric Chloride next time I etch and let it get gritty.

One nice thing about these is the inside diameter is a perfect match for Stomp switches. The serrated washer on the stomp here has in ID of 12 mm so I have to put a wrap of solder wire around the shaft to keep the washer centered.
