Aion FX Procyon: harsh decay (honey Bee)

hi,

I've Just built an Aion FX Procyon kit (from Muzikding.de), I'm pretty sure the components are in the right places, double checked a hundred time, the sound is ok , what I expected
BUT
I noticed a slight harsh decay on the notes, especially on the bass side , very similiar to the harsh decay, for example, of a BD-2 , this with the gain from 12:00 up, and no tone setting can cure it.

is it how a honey Bee / Procyon is supposed to sound? I expected a much rounder decay, even with the hard clipping config the honey Bee has

many thanks in advance

unclear what you mean by harsh decay--meaning the clipping is harsh?

I would check demo vids for the source circuit for comparison. Just checked, there are several! To begin with, this comparison one:
and this one

It looks like the controls are very interactive as well, and just a glance at the reviews, the type of pickup might also affect the behavior of the circuit.

[edit: and the Aion build docs include a variety of options for different versions.]

It might also be useful to include pics of your assembly and/or audio clips if they differ substantially from the demos.

I ll try to explain: the clipping is harsh but in the release part of the note, the attack is ok.
The version I built is the standard in the schematic , no other mod.
I checked some video, thank you, but it's very difficult to catch e the real pedal nuances from YT.

Anyway, I tried several other slewer opamp in place of the CA3130: LM308, 741, TL071, TL081. It seems some harshness disappears. At the moment I left the TL081 in , I'll keep it for a while

Just an update, in case it would be useful for someone.
I originally used a 4n7 cap before the output Jfet ( C11) , as in the instructions, but I noticed the sound was a bit thin.
The original Honey Bee had 47n and 4n7 is the value used in the same position in the MP Sweet Honey (I've found an old thread by Jhul on FSB explaining why the different values), but with this value the bass is a bit overwhelming.
I've found a good compromise with 22n , that way the harshness is also reduced

Must be a fault in your build, there is no harshness in this pedal, chip looks legit and the 4n7 is perfectly fine in this place.
Which jfet did you use?
