Aion just dropped a bunch of new vintage-based boards today

To celebrate our July 4 sale, we’re releasing twelve new projects. This is the biggest project drop we’ve ever done, and writing all the documentation has taken the better part of the past two weeks, so we’re glad to finally be able to share all of it with you!

Almost all are vintage circuits, pre-1975, representing signature gear from Jimi Hendrix and John Paul Jones and fuzz tones of Iron Butterfly. We’ve got two full preamp conversions, and of course the one we’re most excited about: our take on the Uni-Vibe, which has been one of the most frequently-requested circuits for years now.

The one that stands out for me.

Are there workarounds for not using Aion's daughterboards? I read quite a bit about people disliking these. I don't want to use these either, which is the reason why I haven't made the jump to this guy's boards yet.

Whatever, Fuzz Dog has it too! https://shop.pedalparts.co.uk/product/warp

"Kevin Shields knows a thing or two about gloriously fuzzy tone, and the shoegaze master uses the Pearl/Vorg Warpsound on 'Sometimes' to great effect. His ex-guitar tech got in touch a while ago to say he build one of these kits and it was spot on with Kevin's original. Nice." <3

This is a pretty great drop. I saw the 360 preamp and thought “maybe I’ll message and ask for a fuzz only pcb”…and then BAM: 360 Fuzz. The light shield pcb is genius too…

There are no issues to be had with the Aion daughterboards if you know what you’re doing…

That's not my issue. As you might have noticed from my input in this board, I got enough mono pedals and got into DIY to turn every thing I like into a stereo pedals, because of my synths (panned synth / sampler / drum machine voices, basically). These daughterboards make it too much of a hassle to bother with this brand, but if I could eliminate it and cram it on a 4pdt with stereo + LED board on it (to accomodate the L and R boards), some of Aions offers could become of interest of me too.

I built one without the daughter board so I could use an intelligent relay switch on it. It’s possible, yes, just need to add the components inline basically.

Here was my solution along with some other good advice:

Another valuable PDF-ed thread for the local archive! Thanks!

You're telling me documentation takes 2 weeks?
For twelve projects, at the level that he does docs, I think that’s less time than I’d expect. Every time I’ve had to write instuctions or other docs for projects I was sending out to clients, I was surprised by what a time suck it was, especially if there were graphics, etc. involved. Although in this case, I would assume he’s got some templates that can get a certain amount of drag and drop done, which would save time. And of course, I’m sure it wasn’t uninterrupted blocks of time either.
