Rolling right along with the build report dump....
I have to admit I'm not much of a Univibe user. Mainly because I can't seem to get them to sound good with gain.
I've built both the ElectroVibe and ElectroVibe Mini. I really didn't have a good reason to built another vibe.
But to absolutely honest @aion got me with the little light box he made for this board. It's slicker than snot and just so damn CUTE!
I couldn't help myself, I had to build it.
Kevin's take on the Univibe is slightly different than most others in that he uses a different bulb than what's spec'd for most other Univibe projects.
I almost didn't order the board because I didn't have a 1590BBS. And with the tariffs being what they are, ordering a single enclosure from Tayda is just ridiculously cost prohibitive.
Many thanks to @Audandash who came to my rescue (by enabling me hahah). He sent me this very cool pumpkin colored enclosure.
The build went very smooth and I had zero issues putting it together and being able to bias the LFO with the back off is like, lifechanging hahah.
The vibe sounds great, there is plenty of output in both the "modern" and "vintage" internal slider settings. So he takes care of the typical 'low output" issue of Univibes for you. It felt kind of strange to build a Univibe and not have to mod it!
Compared to the Electrovibes, I would say that my Straylight sounds a bit more subtle and laid back, where the E-Vibes are more aggressive and in your face.
I'm still messing around with it trying to get that Gilmour sound. Great project and great build!
The two tone color of this festive enclosure is really cool.
The lighbox is a great add on and it looks professional and slick, compared to the typical cardboard and duct tape ones I see......
This is another great example of the Univibe and along with the ElectroVibe and ElectroVibe mini.......Mike Wong says...."Build them all!!"
