This was my first PedalPCB purchase and thinking I would screw it up I ordered a bunch. Originally the pedal was number 13, but I screwed it up and am reusing the enclosure, and so it is build 26. I do not think this one is a build for beginners because I have now built four of these and only have two that worked well. I am sure it was new builder user error because I assembled this one in a few hours and it worked on the PedalPCB auditorium platform straight away. I put sockets on this board for the diodes because I tried running some LEDs in place of diodes; I could not get it right so I just installed the 1N4148s. There is a plug on the pedal, that is where my clipping light would have been. For the plug I tinted some epoxy black with Mixol and put it in the bezel where there LED would have been. The enclosure is powder coated. I used the 5mm black LED bezel and a lovely pink footswitch. All ¼ watt resistors and I used the 16w 100u electrolytic caps because of their slender size. My fifty watt 100u was too rotund. This board gets tight around the edges on my StewMac PCB holder and if you are not careful you can interfere with two of the electrolytics near the bottom of the board. I went with the plastic potentiometer dust covers.
This is the first Article 59 build where I used the this style of Motorola MC33178s and they sound terrific. The pedal rips and it has incredible power and a great Plexi growl. By the way, it has fairly transparent overdrive without the 1N14148s. I was trying LEDs.
