so, unless Robert has something up his sleeve you're unlikely to better the cali.
This is true of diy comps in general. If you're enjoying that Cali, you just aren't going to find a similar caliber diy project.

After listening to the 2 demo's,BEST. POSSIBLE. ANSWER.
after, "Why, YES, of course."
That is because the Nobleman has more Bass than most overdrives available.Nobleman is a great bass distortion.
After listening to the 2 demo's,
I think this sounds just as good with more Gain.
My Modified Version of the PedalPCB XB-MB Preamp
which I modeled from the XOTIC Bass Preamp:
NC - No Cap.
I thought one of the Bass Members would have built this by now since I listed it???:

A lot of TB'ers have built his pre-EB MusicMan two band preamp clone with excellent results, that was my entree into doing my own PCB layouts actually.I've read a lot of good things about Bajaman's emulation circuits.
That's a nice pedal.View attachment 62872
I’ve heard that this may be similar to Baja’s work
I agree it has more bass than most, and that it why it’s used. I would also add, this is important, not because of the tele pickups (which have the mids of a P90), rather many are using this as a distortion channel to their Fender and vox amps, and NOT as an overdrive pushing a crunchy amp over the top. So they set their Twin or Super to 2 or 3 for the bright clean, and then use this with unity output gain as a light distortion. Boss OD3 is the same way— works better as a low gain distortion than a true overdrive (although with the right guitar/amp combo, they both hold their own as an overdrive as well). That is because the Nobleman has more Bass than most overdrives available.
That's why Nashville Guitarist love it as it fattens up the Tele Bridge pickup.
The lates Nobels ODR-1 has a Bass cut switch inside the battery compartment on top so Humbucker players can use it.
