Art for Art’s Sake: Sharing artwork and WIPs

forgot to share this—

The webpage for My Honor’s Thesis for my Bachelor’s in Studio Arts. If you wanna check out my work and/or read my thesis, it’s right here:

If anyone will appreciate it, I’m sure it’ll be y’all. Everything has to do with music and sound-technology, and while it’s sorta the point of it that it goes over most people’s heads, you’re all the only people that I think will truly ‘get’ it.

I normally do crafts style experiences for birthday presents but I did get into oil painting unfortunately the Mrs didn't like the smell of linseed oil permeating the house.. well that's what she told me. I started trying mixed media (oil and stucco paste):

I have other things like metal work (kitchen knife with Birdseye maple handle), silver thumb ring, etc but I also used to astrophotography alot - specifically for really difficult targets with just a small refractor (102mm scope) the real artwork was the maths and digital processing that I was heavily into creating the algorithm maths:

Bearclaw - a small target (the small dots at the bottom are hot pixels of the Peltier cooled CCD sensor) during long exposure:

Again the white dots are the individual hot pixels of the sensor, the processing of multiple image to recover lost detail finer than a single image using shifting images - in this case resolving the arms and centre of a galaxy:

I have others where I'm pulling details out of the image below the noise floor and Dawes limit of the scope (it below the physics limit of the lenses themselves).

So the artwork was more the digital algorithms. However it's antisocial hours, less compatible with family life so it's taken a back stop.

Seeing the ceramic work, I thought to throw this in. My brother's hard work is paying off after years of finding his own voice in ceranics. A store is selling his vases since this week, and he has been nominated for an art prize at an international ceramic fair in Bruxelles in 2026.
