SOLVED Attempting my first Perfboard circuit - BD-2 with some Boneyard mods - Mostly works!

I'm building a BD-2 based on the layout over at effects layouts with a modded output stage designed by @Chuck D. Bones. The circuit works perfectly until I get to the BS170.

I'm no help on your problem - but just want to say that soldering looks great! I've tried it a couple times, and mine did not come out nearly that neat. Seeing that makes me want to give it another shot.

Thanks man! I've been learning over the last year or so. Started with mods to pedals, then to amp mods, then building pedalpcb boards, built an amp, and now I'm working on entire circuits. Still learning and changing my methods. No clean flux in an injector, lead-free solder, and a hot iron are key. Keep at it!

Mosfets (BS170) are prone to static electricity damage. That's why a SHO has the Zener protection diode thrown in there. Try replacing it and see what happens

I just swapped it for the third time and the output is very very weak, but strong before the FET.

I think you found your problem area. Check your voltages on the BS170. Something isn't making it fire off correctly

Drain is 3.5v, source is 0v and gate is 9v.

Check your source. I don't think it should be zero. something is shorting out

I had the socket wired as if it were DSG and not DGS as I should have, works perfectly now!
