Australian and New Zealand Builders

I could probably get to use Illustrator ok - as a photographer I have used Photoshop for 20 years or so. But I really don't want to pay a monthly fee just on the off chance I need to design a pedal graphic. Fortunately all those graphic designers I used to work with can mark it up for me if I send them what I want in a Photoshop file. And so far I have designed one pedal graphic. :cool:

It just doesn't interest me. It's too much like work! I quite like having dozens of blank boxes. I know what the knobs do!

The ones that I got were mostly legit. Out of about 100 transistors, 75 had useable gain and leakage. If you search the forum for 3AX31C, you’ll find the measurements for the ones that I received. If you receive duds, you should be able to get AliExpress to give you a refund without much fuss.

Great to see some passionate pedal builders based in Australia. I've recently started building some. It's taken me quite a while to brush up on the necessary skills, research builds, source parts, design the pedal artwork etc. but I'm loving the results. I'm hoping that I can sell a few to fund more and more builds, I'm not aiming to take on the likes of Wampler. This is just a bit of fun, allows me to indulge one of my passions, and hopefully doesn't empty the bank account.

I need to order about $20 of stuff from Digikey, but obviously don't want to pay $40 shipping, and don't really think I need $40 of things I can just get at Tayda.
Any suggestions from my AU brothers?

Have a think if you've got any upcoming builds needing transformers (e.g. broadcast/duocast) as I don't think Tayda have them. I also find Tayda either don't stock or don't currently have stock for some transistors - I can't think of the top of my head which ones though sorry.

And maybe some different LDR options as I think Tayda only stock one resistance level.

Beyond that, it's Tayda all the way.

I half-remember some of the transistors now - BC108 and BC109, Tayda only have one version, b or c, can't recall, so you'll need the other type from elsewhere.

Also some of the standard MPSAxx ones seem out of stock for a while, MPSA13 etc.

Haha funny you called that, I did order a duocast in my last order, but I ordered the transformer from PedalPCB as well.
One of the things Im after is actually the 2n4033 that is for the duocast

Yeh Ill have to doublecheck - I think Tayda has BC549C, BC547 - Dont look like theres MPSA though yeh, I think I was getting them from diyguitarpedals or pedalpartsaustralia
 
Wondering what people's experience is with delivery time to the east coast? My order 'departed' Sydney on 12th December and there's been no update since then.

I was hoping to have something to keep my busy over the very silly season!

Anywhere from 2-6 weeks. This time of year can add additional time unfortunatly
 
In what is probably a dumb request. I have now about 20 j201s I need to solder to daughter boards, and I'm looking to get them into some pedals that are apparently finicky. You best believe I'm never ordering more jfet pcbs ever again.
Does someone in Australia have a DCA75 or equivalent, that I could borrow, or send to you a load of these jfets to test so I can match them to their circuits?

you dont have to have a DCA75 to measure JFETs.
i dont have one.
i use a multimeter and this circuit: IMG_6221.png have successfully measured/built a few JFET circuits with this method.
 
yeh it seems to be working.
I made a butchers job of the cutting of the board, but its giving me Vp value that I wanted.
now just need to build some more daughterboards.
