I'm surprised no one's mentioned MOSFETs yet.
I wear a static-guard wristband when handling MOSFETs, it's a very dry climate here and the amount of static electricity drives me nuts — it's worse than dryer commercials ...
Even when I wore a static-guard I still managed to pooch a MOSFET in a SHO I was building for a friend.
