Build suggestions and getting back to the bench…

Well fellow circuit heads, I have finished my recording project and am eager to get back to the build bench.
My wish list has grown and I need some recommends for where to start and what to skip if any. Looking at building the: Plaid preamp, the Hwut, possibly doing all the Thorpys available, and I really need a great tremolo as I sold off my Supro pedal, and of course that Duocast mini looks tasty.

Messing with my pendulum build now. I recommend socketing and playing with C2/C3 for the frequencies of the filters. I’m thinking I’ll end up with around 10nF for C2 (a little less mid scoop, though the stock is a cool phaser-y sound as mentioned). Also, bending the LDR closer or farther from the led may be needed to balance out the bass and treble.

I like the Simulcast - the Hudson Broadcast. It took me a while to warm to it because it's not your typical overdrive or fuzz. But it is possibly the world's greatest treble booster. In front of an OD or dirty amp it sounds glorious. And if you want a super gnarly fuzz, like the fuzz on Sgt Pepper's intro, it can do that too. Nasty!

I love it too, by far my favorite pedal I own. Built the duo-cast and it was great but had a strange crackle when slammed with signal, then built a Simulcast and its perfect in every aspect. I use it as an always one for clean tone and to boost my drive pedals. It adds those magic frequencies that the rest of my signal chain is missing. You are right about the fuzz too, it is gnarly. I rarely flip the switch, but sometimes its fun to let it rip. One of these days I would love to pick up a real Hudson pedal and just see how close my clone is but no rush on that.

I'm lucky enough to have friends with a Hudson Broadcast. My own, built from a PedalPCB PCB with a Russian Ge transistor sounds pretty much exactly the same. I had tried the pedal because friends had raved about it and been surprised because initially it did nothing for me and I found it harsh. And too bright! Once I tamed the brightness with help received here I learnt how to use it and now I love it. You are absolutely spot-on - it fills in those frequencies which are missing.

I like to use it as a treble booster. I use it as I would use a Red Rooster because it does the same kind of thing but is a lot quieter.
