I actually did this last year but didn’t see a build report on it so here it goes. This is the C19 Databus Drive from parasitstudio. The first thing to know is its big. The board itself is quite large. The reason I did this project is simply because of the led matrix. You can get a lot of the same sounds from other parasit projects but this is the only one with it. It’s got tons of cool synthy sounds. There are a few things to consider with this project. There are a lot of led’s to solder and finding a box is a bitch. I went through a few on Amazon to find one that would work. This one is way to deep but it's the only one I could find at the time that worked otherwise. There was always a screw hole in the wrong place that wrecked it. Besides the led’s everything else is built like any other pcb. The pads are nice and big and everything is labeled. If i recall almost everything besides the box can be tayda sourced. When all is said and done you have a pretty cool piece. It’s not going to be on your board but its fun to play with and really cool to watch. Because of the box I am mounting mine on the wall in my music room. Its a conversation starter if nothing else.

Ohhhhhh big side note here. I do remember you have to dial in one of the trimpots to get the matrix working properly. If you don’t you just get a flatline. I figured this out the hard way. Because of this you have to solder all the pots and switches then drop the whole thing out again, plug it up and dial in the matrix. You could drill a small hole for the trimmer and dial it in that way but then you would have an extra hole and it’s a set and forget thing. Also drilling the plastic sucks. I used blue painters tape and took my time but still ended up with one small crack. If you want to pull some of your hair out look no further.

Someone around here makes a nice-fitting case for this thing. I tried a quick search but no luck.

I would still love to do one of these sometime. Definitely a show piece.

Now that you say that I think someone made a custom box out of a large cigar box or something like that. Then they custom cut a plastic piece for the top. I may be making this up but I think I saw that at some point.
