I've recently finished building the PedalPCB Caesar Chorus, which is based on the Walrus Audio Julia, which is essentially a variation of a Boss Chorus.
I decided to have some fun with this and call it the Julio, so I slapped a photo of Julio Iglesias on it. As a nod to Boss pedals, I used the Boss font.
This build is a bit more involved than some pedals, but fairly straightforward. I didn't have any issues, except when I fired it up for the first time and switched it out of bypass, there was no sound at all. Apparently, I just needed to dial in the trimmer to the sweet spot and voila, sweet shimmering chorus sounds!
Since I didn't want to have an LED blinking while bypassed, I modded the Rate LED to turn off when bypassed (thanks to the wisdom of the forum
). I've included a drawing showing how I did it, in case anyone else wants to do this mod.
It sounds awesome! It actually reminds me of my Electro-Harmonix PolyFlange, which has a Chorus mode (EHX later rebranded these pedals as PolyChorus).
Artwork was done using MS Publisher and Sunnyscopa Film-Free Waterslide Decals.
