I bought my first bass about a year ago. I haven't played it a ton, but of course as soon as I got it I started making a list of bass related pedals to add to the build list. This one seemed to get some good reviews from the actual bass players, so onto the list it went.
When I first plugged it in it passed sound, but level was super low. I fiddled the trimmers for maximum volume, and then it was plenty loud and super dirty, but the tone was kinda bad. Did a quick search here and found a note from Robert - 5.87v on Q1 and 6.35v on Q2. Dialed that in and now it's less dirty, but whatever I like about the sound of my bass amp is still there and drive from the pedal sounds great. Not sure if it will get me to spend more time on the bass, but I like it.
I went down a little LED lens rabbit hole on this one. Some new lenses from Small Bear I hadn't tried before. More expensive than the Tayda ones, but they're a deeper red that looks fancier to me, and these ones are frosted inside which I think looks better than the "fresnel" style with the concentric circles.
Unfortunately I didn't measure them before I drilled all my enclosures. They don't fit in the 1/4" hole I usually drill for LEDs. In hindsight, they're probably 7mm, but I redrilled with a Letter J drill which was the closest I had without doing some digging.
That got the lens in the hole, but then I went to put the LED in, and it wouldn't snap in. My LED measured about .010" too big, so I turned it down in the lathe, but then it still wouldn't go in! Also too tall. I made it a flat top and jammed it in there, but I'm pretty sure these lenses just aren't meant to retain the LED like the ones I'm used to, and I should have skipped all that.
