This thing is a pretty interesting pedal. I like the slower settings they add a lot of nice color and variation.

Mine is fairly noisy with kind of a static wind wooshing type sound. I am going to try shielding the input and output wires and maybe changing the few black caps to JRBs.

After building some Aion pedals I have a new found appreciation for Robert's layouts. This pedal was an easy build.

What’s the consensus regarding pedals for the control jacks? Any particular well known models that interface well?

I haven’t used an expression pedal with this nor am I that knowledge about what’s out there. These are the sections of the circuit where the expression pedals jump in. One is a C1M wired as a variable resistor and the other a B100K as a potentiometer. My guess is you would want something that matches somewhat close.
