Closed circuit booster limiter aka Strøm

After doing quite a bit of builds on vero recently it was nice to get back to a proper pcb. I always rename the builds to give them a name that makes sense to me and Strøm is the norwegian word for electricity. Due to the SoloDallas’ connection to AC/DC it seemed appropriate. The build came together beautifully without any issues. Almost feels like I’m getting the hang of this 😅

I really like the sound of the pedal, but it’s a bit more noisy than I’d hoped/expected. Won’t make it’s way to my board, but might come in handy for home recording, or perhaps I’ll sell it to a friend.

Great build and cool name!

Do you thing this circuit has any utility in general? Or is it really just for those chasing AC/DC tone?

I was hoping it would have a little more headroom to get some compressed cleans, but it doesn’t seem to do that. As a boost into a driven amp/other pedal it seems great and another flavor compared to TS, klon and all the others. I plan to try it as a preamp when I comnect a guitar directly into my interface for recording, might do that very well :)
