I tried out a couple new primers, in addition to changing my work flow so that I scrub my enclosures with iso moments before painting them.

This one worked pretty well. Two mist coats followed by two heavier coats.

This was a customer request, and he wanted a metallic blue finish. One of the holes is keyholed. I changed my mind on its placement after I mocked up the pots and moved it further up

Installing the stuff. This one is for a customer so I hot glued the stuff shut. I also located the power jack so one face of the retaining nut jams against the top of the enclosure, making it so it can only loosen from the front. This also means if it does get loose, you can tighten it with pliers without opening the enclosure. But the hot glue will help prevent that.

Got the board in. I had to bend the pots' legs quite a bit to fit the board where I wanted it to go. I cut off most of the lugs of the switch so the board would fit over it, and I used hot glue to isolate the switch contacts from the board. The board sits a bit higher (closer to the bottom cover) than normal but there is room inside the 125b enclosure. The trim pot is for the indicator LED brightness. It's on top of and in series with a 1/8w 470 ohm resistor and hot glued for stability. I love hot glue. It's the best!!!!!

Here's a detail of some of the wiring. I didn't want the switch between the two pots. I used 4148's instead of the bas33's or whatever these were.

I'm doing the labels here. I'm trying to get more comfortable with the paint pens. This is my least favorite part The way the pen feels is way different than writing on paper and its difficult to get the paint to flow evenly from the tip. I'd love to figure out how to do white decals. I looked into it last year and Brother makes a P Touch label maker that uses white ink. I think I can install those over a glossy clear coat and level the edges with 1000 grit, then put a satin clear coat over it.

And here we are!

This pedal sounds great! The customer is a bass player and wanted an overdrive that wouldn't mess with his low end, so we landed on this one as it has a clean blend. The switch changes the kind of clipping the pedal has, so he also has the option of dialing the distortion back by using the LED clipping rather than silicon diodes.

I'm not partial to the clean blend, but the overdrive section sounds great! I'm going to have to build one for myself, though perhaps using a different board that fits in a 1590b enclosure and omits the clean blend. The quality of the overdrive is saturated but tight, with just the right amount of squish, and it's not too dark or bright - it has the right amount of presence and sits nicely. Lots of other pedals are just too dark, but I really like this one! Now to work thru 30 more boards before I can order another one of these...right???
